According to reports in Germany, Newcastle United are currently leading the race for Borussia Monchengladbach star Marcus Thuram.
As revealed by SportBILD, the Frenchman is currently ‘leaning towards Newcastle’ after seeing previous suitors Bayern Munich ‘cool their interest’.
Thuram is out of contract at the end of the season, meaning a cut-price move in January could be on the cards – unless he sees out his contract with the Bundesliga side and leaves on a free transfer next summer.
The Athletic recently confirmed that he was a player who has been discussed in recent recruitment meetings, suggesting the 25-year-old attacker is definitely on our radar, however I’d expect a host of clubs to be in the mix for the French international currently away at the World Cup.
He’s bagged 13 goals and four assists in all competitions this season and is a versatile forward, being able to operate up top and down either flank.
