Fabrizio Romano: Newcastle join PSG, Liverpool and FC Bayern in race for Bundesliga star

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed Newcastle United’s interest in Borussia Monchengladbach star Manu Kone, stating we are one of several ‘top clubs’ following the midfielder.

Bayern Munich, PSG and Liverpool are all thoughts to be admirers of the highly-rated 21-year-old, with the Mags believed to be ‘well informed’ on the player.

Newcastle are in desperate need for a new midfielder after yet another injury to Jonjo Shelvey, but Romano reports that a summer move is the ‘most likely plan’, as things stand.

Kone’s contract runs until 2025 with an option to extend for another season, so there is no immediate rush for the German side to sell, thought it seems clear the France U21 star will secure a big move soon.

The Frenchman has been linked with a move to St James’ Park in recent weeks, with The Athletic recently revealing that he, Moises Caicedo, Youri Tielemans, Khephren Thuram and Edson Alvarez have all been watched closely by Toon scouts.
