New signing spotted at Arsenal 0-0 Newcastle as TWO clubs show ‘interest’ in January loan deal

Fresh from his long haul flight from Australia, Newcastle United new boy Garang Kuol was in the stands to watch our hard fought draw with Arsenal last night.

The 18-year-old was pictured alongside Dan Ashworth and Mehrdad Ghodoussi at the Emirates (see below) after completing a £300,000 move to St James’ Park.

Eddie Howe admitted earlier this week that he’s likely to go out on loan for some much needed minutes, and two clubs have already been linked with a January move for the Socceroos star.

According to journalist Ross Heppenstall, Reading and Hearts are both showing interest in the young forward, who could train with Newcastle’s first-team before heading out for the second half of the 2022/23 season.

Reading – who have Toon loanee Jeff Hendrick and ex-Mag Andy Carroll on their books – could offer Championship football, while Hearts are currently the best side in Scotland behind Celtic and Rangers. The Scots also have three Australian’s in their squad, including former Central Coast Mariners defender Kye Rowles.

  1. Hearts seem to make the most sense. They have 3 Aussie internationals including a lad who was playing for central coast mariners prior to June last year. For 18-year-old moving, thousands of miles from home familiar faces who have done what he is doing should really help him. They have something to play for in the sense that third will get them the Europa league, any lower it is the conference league, which, I am guessing is a big difference in terms of revenue. They also have a striker who has 15 in 19 league games. I would however like to see him feature in the cup against some low-level opposition like Leicester or even Sheffield Wednesday before they make a firm decision on his future as loans don’t tend to work out for Newcastle in recent years.
