Joelinton’s punishment goes public after NUFC star pleads guilty in court – Full details

Joelinton has been fined £31,085 and banned from driving for 12 months after appearing in Newcastle Magistrates Court over a drink driving charge.

The 26-year-old pleaded guilty to a charge of drinking driving this morning, with the court adding that he will now be disciplined by Newcastle United following his fine and ban.

The court found that the Brazilian had 43micrograms of alcohol in 100ml of breath – leaving him over the limit of 35 in the early hours of Thursday 12th January.

It’s believed the Toon midfielder had two glasses of wine that night and felt he was safe to drive, only to be pulled over by police and arrested at 1.20am.

The 12 month driving ban will be reduced to nine months if Joelinton completes a drink driving rehabilitation course and it remains to be seen how he’ll be discipline at club level.

Let’s hope the big man can learn from this.
