Unbelievable comments from Man Utd journalist ahead of possible cup final vs Newcastle United

If Newcastle United do make it to the final of the Carabao Cup next month, what you’re about to read will make you all the more desperate to beat Manchester United should the two sides meet at Wembley.

According to Red Devils reporter Alex Turk, Newcastle will turn up for a 0-0 draw and play for penalties should we see off Southampton in next week’s semi-final second leg.

It may seem like bad form to dig out another writer, but if you put your head above the parapet with such arrogance, ignorance and misinformation, you can’t really complain when you’re shot down.

Firstly, ‘United’ – as he refers to Manchester United in his tweets – are actually behind the higher placed United in the Premier League table in terms of position, goals scored and goal difference. To suggest Eddie Howe will turn up for a 0-0 is quite incredible when we’ve outscored Erik ten Hag’s side so far this season, netting 33 times to Man Utd’s 32.

Also, this narrative that we play ‘negative football’ just because we’ve kept more clean sheets (16) than any other side in Europe’s top five leagues is so short-sighted and stinks of lazy journalism on Turk’s part.

Apparently, if both sides meet in the final, it won’t be a ‘glamour tie’, as ‘one team will look to play’ and ‘the other play for penalties.’ Again, a really odd take. You don’t get to third in the Premier League after 20 games played by looking for 0-0 draws each week, Alex.

See his tweets below, which have riled a few on Tyneside following their 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest in last night’s first leg:

I sincerely hope Man Utd show this level of self-importance and disrespect should we make the final on February 26th!

  1. He’s just rattling your cage, Ollie. That’s what you non-journalists do, isn’t it? Feed off each other?

  2. According to the Tweet shown in the article “one team will look to play” while “the other will play for penalties”, but he doesn’t state which team will look to play and which team will play for penalties. In other words, he could be meaning, and my interpretation is, that it is the other way around, that Newcastle United will look to play (Newcastle United always look to outrun and outplay their opponents) and Manchester United will play for penalties. But there is no way of knowing for sure, based on that Tweet shown in the article.

I mean it’s pretty obvious based on the general tone of his tweets!

  4. I read the headline and the first paragraph and thought “here we go again!”
Then I read the next paragraph and thought “cheeky *******!”
After only 20 games Man U’s goal difference is 15 worse than ours, they’ve conceded 14 more and scored one less.
Obviously this tart of a blogger is rattled and he believes that bravado is the only way to go.
Having struggled to a draw at their gaff I’m guessing he’s bricking it.
Let’s get Sarf’amton out the way and we can concentrate on taking the **** out of that other United.

  5. Usual trash talk from the Mancs, the old fergie style of getting under your skin. But the famous Keegan speech “would love to beat them” this could really be our time. If we get to the final. Hwtl

  6. WHAT AN ABSOLUTE WEAPON ALEX.
THIS IS THE SAME NEWCASTLE UNITED THAT ARE,
    1. ABOVE STRETFORD UNITED
    2. ARE UNBEATEN BAR1 THIS SEASON.
    3. HAVE GONE TOE TO TOE WITH EVERY OPPONENT WE’VE FACED.
    4. HAVE THE BEST GOALKEEPER IN THE LEAGUE, AND 2 OF THE BEST RATED 4 DEFENDERS IN THE PREM THIS SEASON.
    5. MORE CLEAN SHEETS THAN A HOLIDAY INN, AND A FIRE IN THE BELLY NOT FELT SINCE BEFORE THE DAYS OF ASHLEY.
SO MR JOURNALIST, DO YOUR HOMEWORK/RESEARCH BEFORE YOU DECIDE TO KNOCK THE TEAM YOU’LL BE CHASING FOR YEARS TO COME.
THE GLORY DAYS ENDED WHEN THE GREAT SIR ALEX LEFT, AND MAN U HAVE STRUGGLED SINCE.
THEREFORE, I REALLY DONT UNDERSTAND WHERE YOUR ARROGANCE EVOLVES FROM.
THE ONLY MANCHESTER CLUB MAKING WAVES HAS BEEN CITY FOR THE LAST 10 YEARS, SO MAYBE ITS THE SHEER BITTERNESS YOU FEEL TOWARDS THE NOISY NEIGHBOURS THAT FUELS YOU. OR IS IT JUST PURE UNADULTERATED LAZY JOURNALISM ON YOUR PART ? ( AS I CANT SEE HOW ANYONE CAN FAULT THE MAGS FOR THE BELIEF OR TENACITY WE’VE SHOWN SINCE EDDIE HOWE TOOK OVER THE REINS )
I’M NOT TRYING TO KNOCK MAN U HERE, BUT SEE WHATS IN FRONT OF YOU, AND REALISE THERES NOT SUCH A DIVIDE BETWEEN US ANY MORE. ITS GOOD TO SEE MAN U BUILDING AGAIN.
AND I THINK TEN HAG IS THE MAN TO SETTLE THE SHIP, BUT PLEASE DONT KNOCK THE RESURGENCE OF NEWCASTLE WITH THE DISRESPECT SHOWN IN YOUR TWEET.
NOTHINGS NAILED ON YET, SO LETS HOPE THE UTDS MEET AT WEMBLEY………..COS MAN U ARE IN FOR A RUDE AWAKENING IF THEY TAKE YOUR WORDS AS TRUTH. PLAYING FOR A DRAW IN A FINAL……. ABSOLUTELY LAUGHABLE…..
