Full extent of Allan Saint-Maximin injury now goes public – Bad news for Newcastle United

It looks like Allan Saint-Maximin is set for an extended spell on the sidelines.

According to NewcastleWorld, the winger will be missing for four to six weeks, meaning he’ll almost certainly miss the remainder of the month.

Following further assessment on his hamstring injury, it’s thought the Frenchman has suffered a grade two hamstring injury after complaining of pain after our 5-1 win over West Ham.

As a result, he could now miss upcoming games against Aston Villa, Tottenham, Everton and Southampton, with our clash with Arsenal on May 7th deemed his most likely comeback date if he makes a quick recovery.

Saint-Maximin has spent the last few days in France, receiving treatment in Monaco and spending time in an oxygen therapy hyperbaric chamber in a bid to overcome his latest injury setback.

Here’s a reminder of what Howe said after he ASM out at Brentford last weekend; comments which suggest the issue is now worse than the club first feared:

“I don’t think it’s serious with Allan. He didn’t feel 100 per-cent in the West Ham game so we decided to scan him and it revealed a very minor problem with his hamstring. We knew pretty much straight away he wasn’t going to be available for this game.

“Maybe a couple of weeks – I’m guessing slightly. Nothing too serious but that was a big blow because of the form Allan has been in. But again, we back the strength of the squad.

  1. I think everyone loves to watch St Max when he is fully fit, unfortunately for Newcastle he seldom is Season after Season a bit like Shelvey, Dummet etc
There comes a time where they need to be moved on like Shelvey and a more reliable asset is brought in.
Also changing the way we play to accommodate a player like him can disrupt the way we operate as a team.

  2. I dont think you can compare ASM with Shelvey, for one ASM is fast skilful talented, Shelvey just a bully lazy his ego much bigger than his talent, every team needs an ASM and every team wants to get rid of the Shelvies of this world ( ask the Forest fans ).

  3. Brian Marashi:-
The Comparison was only in relation to the number of games he misses like Shelvey and Dummet.
Neither could be compared to him skill wise they are totally different types of players in every way.

  4. I love him man, he’s the reason you watch football, such a nice guy too, always giving back to fans. If he really is going then its such a shame cause he was our one true light in those dark times pre takeover, hope hes always gonna be remembered well by our fans
