Leeds could appoint ex-Mag or former Toon boss ahead of Newcastle clash next Saturday – Report

Leeds could appoint former Newcastle midfielder Lee Bowyer as their next manager with Javi Gracia’s future currently in doubt, according to The Mail.

He isn’t the only ex-Mag in the running, as the same paper reports that Sam Allardyce is also under serious consideration to replace the under-fire Spaniard.

Gracia only joined towards the end of February, but after a run of awful results – the latest a 4-1 defeat to Bournemouth on Sunday – they are now just a point above the relegation zone and preparing to make another change with four games remaining.

So, should he be dismissed, one of Bowyer or Allardyce could be in the dugout for our trip to Elland Road on May 13th; our next away game after Arsenal come to St James’ Park this Sunday.

Bowyer has been out of a job since he was sacked by Birmingham last summer, while big Sam has jobless since he walked out on West Brom back in May 2021.

It won’t get any easier for Leeds who face three of the top six in their final four fixtures. Should either get the job, they’ll have a very difficult task on their hands.
