Allan Saint-Maximin responds to Toon fan on Twitter and reacts to top-four finish

A Toon fan on Twitter has thanked Allan Saint-Maximin for saving us from relegation in the years prior to the takeover, with the Frenchman insisting it would’ve been ‘impossible’ to survive without our support in response.

Monday night was full of celebrations following our qualification to the Champions League, but this fan wanted to remind everyone that we may not be in this position if it was not for the efforts of the winger during the Steve Bruce era.

Saint-Maximin carried us on countless occasions and was quite often the only player with attacking flair who could drive us up the pitch. Reacting to UCL qualification, ASM also tweeted: ‘We went through a lot, we even fought hard for not going down in Championship… but now look where we are…’

Although he hasn’t been able to have that same impact this season, his connection with the fans remains as strong as ever. It’s safe to say he’s very excited to take on this European challenge, admitting it’s a ‘dream’ of his to represent Newcastle in the Champions League.

Hopefully we see more of the 26-year-old during the next campaign – especially with the amount of games coming our way – and he can get back to his best form. Here’s what he said in response to a fan on Twitter:
