Ashworth eyes Brazilian as scouts watch striker alongside Arsenal, Man Utd & West Ham – Report

As reported by The Mail, Newcastle have sent scouts to watch over Santos forward Marcos Leonardo during the Under-20 World Cup.

The Magpies will have to compete with Manchester United, Arsenal and West Ham who are also interested in securing the 20-year-old in the summer.

Leonardo has been excelling during the U20 World Cup for Brazil, scoring four in four games so far; his latest saw him bag a goal and an assist in a last 16 win over Tunisia on Wednesday night.

The striker has scored 41 goals in 140 appearances for his Brazilian club and has been compared to Man City legend Sergio Aguero for his stocky frame and ability to score with either foot.

Newcastle are thought to be keen on adding a young forward to our attacking ranks to support both Wilson and Isak. With Dan Ashworth leading our drive to sign some of the best young talent in the world, Leonardo may be the latest exciting option under consideration.
