Howe handed chance to sign €50m man on loan after rivals snub option to buy – Report

Newcastle have been offered the chance to sign Atletico Madrid forward and Kieran Trippier’s former teammate Joao Felix following his Chelsea loan spell, according to The Mail.

The 23-year-old had hoped to stay on at the London-based club, but new head coach Mauricio Pochettino has decided against keeping him on next season, turning down their option to sign him permanently.

Felix is also not wanted at his parent club after a falling out with Diego Simeone and it’s thought he could be available on loan once again, seeing the €50m-rated Portuguese international offered to Eddie Howe.

While Newcastle and Howe would certainly admire a player of his ability, Chelsea had to pay a £9m loan fee and bug chunk of his £200,000 wages; two factors that could put us off any temporary switch to Tyneside.

There’s no doubting his talent, but you have to question why both Simeone and Pochettino have turned their backs on the attacker. If an attitude problem exists or he doesn’t work hard enough, would we REALLY want him?

With only a handful of teams in Europe able to afford the young star, it remains to be seen if any of them will be willing to take a chance on Felix; who could be stuck in limbo if the right club doesn’t come forward.

  1. There is no doubt he is a major talent, bit of a drama queen though.
If the toon can do a deal for him, he could thrive with our fans behind him.
For me Wirtz is what we need. I’ve watched him a lot in Germany and he is young, Isak feet and an assist master. Mark my words, he is set for big things.
