Toon battling Tottenham for TWO relegated stars – Both valued at £40m – Report

Newcastle and Tottenham are both battling for relegated Leicester duo James Maddison and Harvey Barnes, according to The Sun’s Tom Barclay.

Both midfielders are set to leave the East Midlands club following their relegation from the Premier League with a handful of teams interested in their signatures.

Spurs and Newcastle, however, are currently leading the race for the pair with the Magpies able to offer them Champions League football next season.

Both are expected to demand fees of around £40m, but it remains to be seen if either Newcastle or Spurs are willing to stump up the cash to sign the attaching duo.

Maddison has been a target for us since last summer and will be out of contact next summer, suggesting that it would be wise for the Foxes to cash in on their star man while they still can.

Barnes is a more recent target and would add great quality in depth out wide for what will be a packed schedule next year. He’s been in a poor Leicester side this season, but still weighed in with an impressive 13 goals.
