Sky Germany release Szoboszlai update – Good news for Newcastle, bad news for RB Leipzig?

As reported by Sky Sports in Germany, Toon target Dominik Szoboszlai is ‘very open’ to a move away from RB Leipzig and is aware of ‘concrete interest’ from Newcastle United.

The German club are believed to be frustrated and ‘not happy’ with his latest statements discussing a possible transfer, with the player admitting he would ‘consider’ a summer move away if the right offer arrives.

Interestingly, Sky Germany claim he’s our top target, suggesting the 22-year-old Hungarian may have leapfrogged James Maddison in our search for a new attacking midfielder?

Szoboszlai’s release clause is €70m (£60m) but the Magpies may be hoping to negotiate that price down if both the club and player are keen on a transfer.

Given our recent history with top targets – Sven Botman and Alexander Isak for example – the club’s hierarchy will no doubt do all that they can to get the Hungarian playing in black and white next season.

  1. Stop talking about it and get on with it.
I can see the likes of Guler, Veiga, Min Jae and this guy being snapped up by others while we are still ‘monitoring’ things.
