Newcastle United have confirmed the signing of Yankuba Minteh from Danish side Odense, revealing that the winger will be immediately loaned to Feyenoord following his arrival.
Sporting Director Dan Ashworth has described the winger as a player with “high potential”, believing a season in the Eredivisie will be an “exciting phase” of his development after an impressive debut year in Denmark.
In a club statement released just moments ago, we’ve announced that he’ll become a Newcastle player on 1st July, then leave to join the Dutch giants for the 2023/24 season. An impressive move for the youngster if he’s able to get regular game time with the Eredivisie champions, who only recently reached the quarter-final of the Europa League.
Minteh is an 18-year-old winger who has bagged four goals and six assists in 17 senior appearances for the Superligaen side. According to reports, he’ll cost around £6m.
Speaking to NUFC.co.uk about the move, here’s what Ashworth’s had to say:
“We are very pleased to be bringing a player with Yankuba’s high potential to Newcastle United.
“He has done extremely well in his first full season in Denmark, and he has a promising career ahead of him. We look forward to working with him in this exciting phase of his development, and we’re excited to see how he performs at Feyenoord, a club that also has a strong development record of its own.
“As well as supporting the first team with players for the here and now, we have a clear philosophy to invest in emerging talent and we want to provide a player pathway that will help to build and sustain long-term success.”
I appreciate you letting me know this. It’s fantastic what you’ve written on your blog. You published a blog piece that was both informative and entertaining.
