Left-back pushing for Toon move & club showing interest in Croatian international – Report

According to Football Insider, Kieran Tierney is eager to seal a move to St James’ Park this summer to be closer to family in Scotland.

The piece also reveals that Newcastle are admirers of Croatian left-back Borna Sosa; the Stuttgart star Newcastle scouts watched during last year’s World Cup in Qatar.

Back to Tierney, they report that a formal bid for the Arsenal defender is expected to go in by the end of the month, as the 26-year-old remains one of Eddie Howe’s top targets.

Talk of Tierney arriving on Tyneside has gone quiet over the past week, but Scottish reporter Fraser Fletcher insists that Newcastle remain in a ‘very strong position’ to land the former Celtic man.

As for Sosa, the 25-year-old was one of the shining lights in an otherwise dismal season for Stuttgart; who almost suffered relegation to the German second tier. The 6ft 1′ full-back bagged 12 assists in 30 appearances in all competitions and has been tipped to seal a move away from the Bundesliga strugglers for a few seasons now.

The Zagreb born defender is also represented by CAA Stellar; the same agency that looks after Newcastle’s Nick Pope and Elliot Anderson. If a move for Tierney proves too expensive, he could be one to watch.
