The agent of Sandro Tonali – Giuseppe Riso – has revealed that his client looks set become a Newcastle player on Saturday, saying his move “should be officially announced tomorrow” during a Friday night interview.
It had been rumoured for over a week now that a £55m deal for the AC Milan player was all but done, with the finer details and formalities set to be signed off once he returned from international duty with Italy; who were dumped out of the U21 Euros on Wednesday night.
Tonali will be our second signing of the summer, coming after last month’s move for Gambian talent Yankuba Minteh.
At £55m, the Italian has taken up a large chunk of our budget, but he comes with a big reputation from Italy and offers some good news after former targets James Maddison and Dominik Szoboszlai ended up elsewhere.
