Newcastle in talks with Bournemouth over summer sale – Report

Bournemouth are in talks with Newcastle United over a deal for Karl Darlow, according to reports.

As revealed by the Northern Echo, the Cherries are ‘increasingly confident’ of bringing the goalkeeper to the South Coast after holding discussions with Toon chiefs.

The same piece states that Middlesbrough had been leading the race 32-year-old, but the player himself is eager to stay in the Premier League and currently prefers a move to the Vitality as a result.

Hull City are also interested after he impressed during a recent loan spell with the Tigers, but the pull of top flight football could prove too strong if Bournemouth can strike a deal.

It would be a good deal for all parties if Darlow can seal a permanent move. He’s currently behind Nick Pope and Martin Dubravka in the pecking order and may be considered fourth choice of Loris Karius accepts our one-year contract offer.

Hopefully he is one of several fringe men that can be moved on in the coming weeks, as our inflated squad and ever-increasing wage bill may need to be trimmed to allow for the signings of a left-back, right-sided centre-back, second midfielder and versatile forward.
