Newcastle on brink of ending transfer talks and two loan deals now being discussed – Report

The Telegraph have released a new piece on the Toon transfer front, revealing the latest on our pursuit of Tino Livramento and two Premier League midfielders currently under consideration.

Luke Edwards reports that we are discussing potential loan moves for Man City’s Kavlin Phillips and Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher.

However, it’s believed we’ve ‘reached a stalemate in their negotiations’ with Southampton over a move for Tino Livramento. The Saints have set their asking price beyond the £30m mark and it’s thought Newcastle could walk away from talks if a compromise can’t be reached in the coming days.

The piece highlights that we’ve been quoted ‘astronomical fees’ all summer and refuse to pay over the odds – especially with a £52m move for Sandro Tonali taking up a ‘huge chunk’ of our budget.

As for Phillips and Gallagher, the former has previously discussed his desire to fight for his place at Man City, yet it’s thought his stance could change when he returns for pre-season training if he’s told game time under Guardiola will be limited.

Howe has enquired about Gallagher’s availability in each of the last two windows, according to the report. However, Mauricio Pochettino may want to take a close look at the England international before making a decision.

  1. Looking at how Arsenal, Man City and others have spent heavily on new players even if we sign Tonali we still have a relatively small squad. Ant players considering a transfer to PL must be attracted by our squad size and thinking they will get decent game time for NUFC?
