After spending the day at St James’ Park, Sandro Tonali has posted an Instagram message to Newcastle United fans.
Speaking to his 1.1million followers, he said: “Hey Magpies! Thank you for the warm welcome. Excited to start this next chapter of my career, with my new teammates. Can’t wait to play at ST. James Park.”
The Italian’s £55m move was officially announced on Monday and he was pictured arriving on Tyneside for the first time on Wednesday after boarding a private jet from Linate airport.
He was seen leaving the club’s Benton training base on Wednesday night and was filmed at St James’ Park on Thursday morning with his partner and agent. A short video of him walking along the touchline and wearing his new black and white shirt in the home dressing room then followed.
Now, he’s thanked Toon fans for the ‘warm welcome’ and revealed his excitement ahead of this ‘next chapter’ of his career, looking forward to meeting his new teammates and playing at St James’ Park.
The 23-year-old is expected to go on holiday, as his involvement at the U21 European Championships has cut short his summer break, meaning he could miss the first few days of our pre-season schedule next week.
