Four and a half years after leaving Atlanta, Miguel Almiron capped his return to the Mercedes Benz Stadium with a goal.
In a moment that felt written in the stars for the Paraguayan, he latched onto a brilliant through ball from Anthony Gordon just seconds before the half-time break and slotted past Kepa to make it 1-1.
It was a lovely finish from Miggy – reminiscint of the goals he scores last season – and a memorable moment for the 29-year-old, who performed a celebration Atlanta fans saw on so many occasions during his time with the MLS side!
Watch the goal, celebrations and brilliant crowd reaction via the clips below:
Almiron bagged 11 Premier League goals last season and was a key player for Atlanta before Rafa Benitez brought him to Tyneside, bagging 21 goals and 21 assists during his 62 appearances in the MLS.
What a moment for Miggy!
It was quite a sight to see the whole stadium stand and applaud when he was subbed towards the end of the game
