Toon owners make first major error as fans fume at Tuesday’s ticket announcement

Earlier today, Newcastle United revealed that a ticket ballot will open this week for next Saturday’s clash with Aston Villa, giving members a chance to secure a seat for the game.

There’s no guarantee that those paying £37 for a membership land a ticket. However, it’s now emerged that the winners will be allocated random seats and charged immediately, with adult prices set between £44 to £74.

The latter is a huge amount to pay, while details of the selection process were not made clear when the club sold memberships for £37 last month. Naturally, this has lead to fan unrest on social media, making supporters question the new system and extortionate prices set by the club.

No seat selection is poor and the £30 range on prices (£44-£74) feels far too big. Our new owners have got almost everything bang on since they took over from Mike Ashley, but this feels like a big mistake and has been met with major criticism on social media.

The NUST are due to release a statement soon responding to the announcement. Given the backlash it has faced, it would be no surprise if this flawed system is revised very soon.

It’s impossible to suit everyone and tough to oversee when the demand for tickets outweighs the supply, but this feels misleading, excessive and poorly thought out.

  2. Oh dear – that was a short honeymoon, and who’s first into the ring? NUST!
I’m surprised we haven’t heard anything from Chi Onwurah.

I have to suggest, Olly, that just because the fans don’t like it, it doesn’t mean it’s a major mistake.

  3. Hasn’t taken long for all the moaners to come out of there closets, most likely the same ones who abandoned the team under Ashley, (they all know Best don’t they), well our new owners are doing a great job, if you want success you have to pay for it , all those who kept their season tickets through the bad times deserve to be first, and sadly the rest will have the scraps, that’s just the way it is, so dont blame the owners, that every one who hasn’t a season ticket thinks it’s there right to have one first, and if you don’t want to pay the price of a ticket, don’t buy one, and don’t moan on about it.

You’re referring to the spineless morons like yourself that kept going and keeping him here 5 years longer Enjoy for now. You will soon find they do not want to sell season tickets at cheap prices and probably not at all. Suck it up buttercup football died years ago. For those of us with a backbone anyway. Obviously it still gets you off

So why the salty tears? 😭 Those ‘spineless’ Luton fans who stuck with their team through far far worse are now enjoying the fruits of their loyalty. Yeah, loyalty. Get a dictionary and look it up. Football is cyclical, good times and bad. We’ve had enough bad, now comes the reward for those who stuck with the team. Owners come and go, fans stay forever. Seems Ashley is living rent free in your head still. He’s gone. Move on.
