Howe reveals why £90m duo will be “great additions” ahead of St James’ Park debut

Eddie Howe believes Newcastle fans will “fall in love” with new signings Sandro Tonali and Harvey Barnes.

After revealing that we’ve come back “fitter, stronger and more united” from our US tour, the 45-year-old commented on Tonali and Barnes; the £90m duo set to make their first appearances at St James’ Park in the Sela Cup this weekend.

The boss has already seen why he comes with such an “incredible reputation” from their short time together, describing the £52m midfielder as an “unbelievable footballer” and “lovely lad” who also comes with a “really good mentality.”

On Barnes, Howe has hailed his “outstanding” goalscoring record at Leicester, believing he’s a proven scorer at Premier League level and another great person and “high class performer.”

Speaking to NUFC TV ahead of upcoming games against , here’s what Howe had to say on both our summer signings:

“The supporters will hopefully fall in love with both players.

“Sandro comes with an incredible reputation, and from what I’ve seen in the very short time we’ve been together, that reputation is there on merit.

“He’s an unbelievable footballer and a lovely lad as well with a really good mentality. I think they’ll love watching him in a black and white shirt.

“The same for Harvey. He’s an outstanding goalscorer and has scored goals in the Premier League for the last four years. He’s been a high class performer for a very strong Leicester team.

“I think they are great additions. They are both great people and we look forward to their first experience at St James’ Park.”

  1. Two players ain’t going to change any better than what we are doing now.Look at us in the USA we were Average against Young lads.I think last season was a Fluke. We will flop BIG this season.Everyone praising HOWE.I think he is Overrated. We shall see this season .

  2. Funny how the points per game under Howe have been pretty consistent since he took-over averaging almost 2pts per game. Whilst I doubt that strengthening the squad will increase that it should help maintain it.
