Premier League players vote Newcastle star into PFA Team of the Year to end 11 year wait

Kieran Trippier has been named in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year for 2022/23 after an incredible season in which he was key to securing us a top four finish.

The defender was one of only two players who were not from either Man City or Arsenal – alongside former Spurs star Harry Kane – and can take real pride in being the overriding favourite to be selected at right-back by his fellow pros.

The full team is as follows:

Aaron Ramsdale (Arsenal)

Kieran Trippier (Newcastle United)

John Stones (Man City)

Ruben Dias (Man City)

William Saliba (Arsenal)

Rodri (Man City)

Kevin De Bruyne (Man City)

Martin Odegaard (Arsenal)

Bukayo Saka (Arsenal)

Harry Kane (Tottenham)

Erling Haaland (Man City)

Since his arrival 18 months ago, the England international has been the definition of professionalism and consistency, with his leadership also crucial in improving the players around him, especially that back line.

Trippier becomes just the 13th Newcastle player to be named in the PFA Team of the Year and the first since 2011/12 when former captain Fabricio Coloccini was selected.

With such an important season ahead, the 32-year-old will once again be huge for us and his Champions League experience will hopefully help us in our return to the competition for the first time in two decades.
