Footage of Newcastle fans arguing with protesters outside of St James’ Park before the Saudi Arabia v Costa Rica game on Friday has gone viral on social media; and it’s not a pretty watch.
It was less of a debate and more people belittling and laughing at the protester from ‘NUFC Fans Against Sportswashing’ who, whether you agree with or not, made some valid points and wasn’t there to cause harm.
Some of the comments made by one fan in particular were embarrassing, claiming ‘we’re all here to enjoy the Saudi’s play’ before shushing the protestor. He may be the minority, but it gives fanbase a bad name when this clip has gone viral on Twitter with over 13million impressions.

There’s still a lot of controversy around the ownership of the club, but whether you’re supporting the team or staging a protest, most would agree this is a poor way to handle the situation.
Rubbish the only controversy is the media and hacks who want to run a story ..hypocrite human rights? ask Iraq how it feels about our human rights visited on them .. it’s nothing but jealousy , wokey activists and islamaphobic media repeating the narratives .. they deserved derision
