According to The Mirror, Newcastle are interested in signing Julian Brandt; the man who scored Borussia Dortmund’s second in last week’s 2-0 defeat in the Champions League.
The report claims we are long-term admirers of the German international, but it’s believed club officials were hugely impressed by his performance when the two sides met in Dortmund.
It’s understood that Arsenal are also keen the winger, who has enjoyed an excellent start to the season with 11 goal involvements in 15 appearances across all competitions.
The 27-year-old would add some much-needed versatility to our attack, being able to play on the left, right or as a number 10, but he wouldn’t come cheap and appears to have interest from a couple of Premier League clubs.
Dortmund will be reluctant to sanction a January sale, especially when they are on course to qualify for the Champions League group stages and remain in the mix for another top four finish in the Bundesliga.
