According to The Telegraph, former Newcastle striker Papiss Cisse is currently training with Macclesfield FC after becoming a free agent.
Cisse was most recently at Ligue 2 club Amiens, where he made 32 appearances and scored 13 goals in one season before his contract expired in the summer.
The 38-year-old is believed to be training with non-league club Macclesfield FC and could yet sign a contract in what would be a huge coup for the club.
Robbie Savage is currently their director of football, while Steve Bruce’s son – Alex Bruce – manages the team with the help of his assistant and former Sunderland defender Phil Bardsley. Should Cisse sign, he could also play alongside John Rooney; the brother of Man Utd legend, Wayne.
Cisse, who scored 44 times in four-and-a-half years on Tyneside, is now living in the North West and keen to find a new club instead of retiring from football.
