According to The Chronicle, Newcastle United have been alerted by the availability of Andrey Santos; the Brazilian sensation we attempted to sign 12 months ago.
It was widely reported that we were eager to sign the midfielder during his time at Vasco de Gama, but Chelsea beat us to a £11m deal last January.
He has been on loan at Nottingham Forest, yet his spell at the City Ground has just been scrapped, opening the door to another move away from Stamford Bridge.
Lee Ryder reports that the player’s camp are keen on a move to Newcastle United, however, any temporary switch to St James’ Park could be held up by Lewis Hall.
Premier League rules state that you can’t have two players on temporary deals from the same club, meaning Hall’s permanent move would have to be pushed through early if we wished to sign Santos on loan.
It’s believed a decision on the South American’s long-term future is yet to be made and it’s interesting to note that he shares the same agent as Bruno Guimaraes. With Chelsea feeling the strain of FFP following a few years of lavish spending, it’ll be interesting to see if they’d cash in on the 19-year-old; who has already been capped by Brazil’s senior side.
Santos has had a tough start to life in England – he’s yet to appear for Chelsea and has played just twice during his time at the City Ground – but Newcastle may sense and opportunity to sign a potential star of the future.
Not good enough for Forest
Enough said

This kid is a rough diamond who would have Bruno and Joe for support.
Likely to cost £10m which is a risk worth taking I think.

We need players for the here and now, not another potential star for the future.
I’d send Hall back to Chelsea as well, haven’t been impressed by what I’ve seen of him so far.
We need a CF, DM, GK and a CB in that priority.
