Newcastle contact representatives of Ivory Coast star – Report

According to a new report, Newcastle are stepping up their interest in Sporting Lisbon sensation Ousmane Diomande.

This comes from Football Insider, who claim that we’ve reached out to the representatives of the 20-year-old centre-back over a potential move to Tyneside in 2024.

It’s believed ourselves and Arsenal are both huge admirers of the Ivory Coast international, who is set to represent his country at this month’s African Cup of Nations.

That mixed in with Sporting Lisbon’s reluctance to sell midway through the season means a summer exit is far more likely for the youngster, although he is currently protected by a £70m release clause and contracted to the Portuguese giants until 2027.

It’s clear the club are looking to bring in a right-sided centre-back at some stage, but any big-money move will likely wait until the end of the season, with many reporting that loan moves for a midfielder and wide forward are on the agenda this month.
