Newcastle United could see several players return from lengthy injury’s in the coming weeks.
According to the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope, Joe Willock is “two or three weeks” away from playing again after missing the last two months with an Achilles problem.
Harvey Barnes could return to the squad before Willock, with it hoped he may even feature before the month is out. The Englishman signed from Leicester for £38million but sustained a foot injury in just his second start for the Magpies.
Callum Wilson, who has scored seven goals in 14 league appearances this season is a doubt for Newcastle’s FA cup tie against Fulham next Saturday as his recovers from a calf issue but could return against Aston Villa at the end of the month.
Jacob Murphy is another regular close to a return. He has been missing since he underwent surgery on a dislocated shoulder in November, but resumed light training last week. The bad news, however, is that Joelinton WILL require season-ending surgery on his thigh, with his operation set to take place next week.
Despite positive news on a recent scan, midfielder Elliot Anderson is still at least six weeks away from returning to the squad. The 21-year-old hasn’t featured since the 4-0 win against Crystal Palace in October due to a stress fracture in his back.
