Newcastle set to ‘submit offer’ for Ligue 1 wonderkid – L’Équipe

Newcastle are set to rival Borussia Dortmund for the signature of young Rennes midfielder Desiré Doué, according to L’Équipe.

The French outlet states that both clubs plan to ‘submit offers’ for the highly-rated 18-year-old before the January window shuts after long-term interest.

It’s believed Newcastle and Dortmund have been in contact with Rennes to understand the potential grounds of any deal. L’Equipe refuses to rule out a late sale, with the French side waiting to see if either club meet their asking price.

Doué is looking for first team football after only playing 584 minutes of Ligue 1 football this season. The Angers-born attacker has scored twice in that time and is able to operate centrally or out wide.

He’s struggled for regular minutes this term, but was recently considered is one of the most exciting young talents in France and has been linked with a move to Tyneside in the past, with Mark Douglas (iNews) previously confirming our interest.

  1. As a life long NUFC supporter I am happy that the club was bought out by the Consortium including the 80% shareholding of the PIF
How ever with all the back room support and Director of Football appointments I am shocked at the lack of movement and reasurance from the board on what we are trying to achieve.
January transfer window ????????? no movement whatsoever what is happening
The only movement we fans are hearing is Trippier is going followed by Bruno, and Joelinton can also go when fit?
with current situation on injuries and suspensions I fail to be impressed by the situation
It looks like Ashley is back ?
