Newcastle REJECT Bayern Munich’s latest bid for Kieran Trippier

Newcastle United have rejected an improved bid from Bayern Munich for right-back Kieran Trippier.

As reported by David Ornstein of The Athletic, a new proposal for a permanent transfer for a fee of around £13m was submitted by Bayern on Tuesday, which was more than Newcastle originally paid for him two years ago. However, the bid has been turned down by the Magpies who are adamant the England international is staying.

Ornstein also said that Trippier is “respecting the club’s decision” and will not force a move. Whether Bayern submit another offer remains to be seen.

The Daily Mail’s Craig Hope reported that this is the third approach for Trippier. The first being for a loan move then what was described as a “low ball” permanent package which was turned down over the weekend before the most recent bid was placed.

The fee offered by Bayern may come as a surprise to some, as Sky Germany reported that Newcastle set an asking price of £11-£12m for the 33-year-old. But as things stand, the club have the upmost confidence that Trippier is staying put despite serious interest from the German champions.

Glad we’ve knocked them back, I’m one of the fans that don’t want him gone.
I also don’t agree he’s on the wane either, he’s pretty much the same as everyone else as in running on empty.
We’ll see how important he is in the second half of the season and I bet it’ll be more than the 13m so called fee in lge position.
Leader on and off the field we should be keeping players like him at least till the summer not flogging them off mid season.
