Joelinton releases personal statement after Newcastle United announcement

Last night, Newcastle United released a statement confirming that Joelinton had successfully undergone surgery on a thigh injury sustained in our FA Cup win over Sunderland, revealing that he’s due back in action in May 2024.

Since then, the big man has posted a personal statement of his own on Instagram, reacting to confirmation that his season is all but over, unless he features in May fixtures against Burnley, Brighton and Brentford.

The Brazilian – who is yet to sign a new contract after talks – had this to say:

‘Today begins another challenge in my life and career, and it is with tears in my eyes and a smile on my face that I am writing this. but a challenge that I will overcome as I have already overcome many others, today begins another beginning in which I will dedicate myself and do my best to recover well and get back to doing what I love in the best way possible. Thank you everyone for your love and support! I’ll be back soon.’

Joelinton received responses from Bruno Guimaraes and former Toon teammate Allan Saint-Maximin. The Frenchman wrote, “Take care my brother”, while Bruno added, “You will come back stronger brother!! Good head. We will be together till the end.”

Hopefully big Joe can recover in good time, come back stronger and agree to a new contract in the mean time.
