£63m duo hint at Newcastle return and loan star spotted in training

Harvey Barnes and Joe Willock appear to be closing in on a return to action at Newcastle United after posting an encouraging update on social media today.

Barnes posted a photo of him in his new Adidas boots from the club’s training ground, while Willock shared a similar picture on his Instagram story, posting a “step by step” message to signal he too is edging closer to a comeback.

Interestingly, it’s noticeable that Willock’s boots had grass underneath, suggesting he’s back in light training at the very least. As things stand, this weekend’s FA Cup trip to Fulham is expected to come too soon for the £63m pair, but it’s hoped they will both could be available to play some part in a February run that sees us face Luton, Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth and Arsenal.

Joe White (pictured on the left below) has also been spotted in training this week after returning from an impressive loan spell with Crewe. It will be interesting to see how he gets on after Eddie Howe’s decision to keep him around the squad over the coming weeks. With Joelinton injured and a midfield arrival hanging in the balance, he might just get a chance over the second half of the season.
