Karius, Livramento and Isak all start – Confirmed Newcastle team to face Arsenal

The team sheets are in ahead of tonight’s 8pm kick-off at the Emirates, where Newcastle United take on Arsenal.

Here’s the side Eddie Howe has gone with, featuring three changes, a surprise in goal and the return of a few key players:

STARTING XI: Karius – Trippier, Schar, Botman, Livramento – Longstaff, Bruno, Miley – Almiron, Isak, Gordon.

SUBS: Gillespie, Lascelles, Ritchie, Barnes, Krafth, Hall, Murphy, Willock, Burn.

Loris Karius comes in for his second competitive start for the club, replacing the absent Martin Dubravka (ill), with Tino Livramento also replacing Dan Burn at left-back.

Alexander Isak returns up top and Joe Willock is named on the bench against his former club alongside Harvey Barnes; who makes way for Isak.

As for Arsenal, Trossard drops to the bench and Jorginho starts in midfield, with Saka and Martinelli out wide and Havertz in the false No 9 role.

Arsenal XI: Raya – White, Saliba, Gabriel, Kiwior – Jorginho, Rice, Odegaard – Saka, Havertz, Martinelli.

HOWAY THE LADS!

  1. Still sticking with the 433 system, Livramento in a plus, see what happens.
Let’s hope Almiron turns up like he did at Villa.
Would have preferred 442 with Willock instead of Almiron but we don’t know how match ready he is.

  2. Getting overwhelmed in the middle of the park!
442 or 532 is needed you could smell it coming, unless you can match them you have to nullify them.
