As reported by the Chronicle, Sammy Ameobi may be on his way back to Bolton Wanderers, despite only just being recalled by Newcastle.
The Trotters are supposed to be very keen on taking Ameobi back to Bolton and are trying their best to agree a deal with United.
It may be slightly beyond Bolton’s financial resources to do so at the minute, so Ameobi may get his chance and when asked about that, Benitez said: “He has done well with Bolton. He is a player that can play in the wide areas.
“We’ll bring him back and see if he is fine and can give us something. We have players going to the African Cup of Nations.
However, Benitez is not the only manager that is keen on Ameobi, only two weeks ago, Bolton manager Phil Parkinson said: “He’s enjoying it here so obviously we’d like to keep him.
“You learn things when you’re playing games, he’s getting better and is a very likeable lad.”
