According to reports carried out by HITC, Newcastle United are currently in pole position to secure the services of Hartlepool United attacker Connor Simpson.
Newcastle United’s struggles to bring in new signings to St. James’ Park this summer has been well documented but nonetheless, manager Rafael Benitez is soldiering on despite the frustration and is expected to sign a couple of new names in the coming two weeks.
Improving the attacking department will be one of the main priorities for Benitez and now according to reports carried out by HITC, claims are being made that the Magpies are currently leading the race to secure the services of Hartlepool attacker Connor Simpson.
Simpson is a talented 17-year-old with an imposing physique and he has been compared to former Geordie hero Andy Carroll.
Although the youngster is yet to sign a professional contract with Hartlepool, he has managed to attract the interest from a number of Premier League clubs including Newcastle and it is believed that the Tyneside based outfit will have to beat off competition from Liverpool to sign the teenage sensation.
