Game On! Newcastle v Norwich – Santon and Tiote out

Cheering on the lads!
Welcome one and all to our ‘Game On’ article which this afternoon will take us through every twist and turn of Norwich City’s visit to St James’ Park.

Newcastle are looking for their first win in four which will go some way to avenging the 4-2 defeat suffered at Carrow Road earlier on in the season.

However it won’t be easy. Norwich work hard, they run at everything and will offer their own threat. They are all but safe in the Premier League and, like us, are at a kind of crossroads in terms of their season. A positive result and they can start looking at finishing in the top half of the table whilst a defeat will probably consign them to being happy enough with how things have gone thus far.

Newcastle meanwhile are looking for the points themselves in an attempt to get back on track and reignite a promising Premier League campaign which has started to fall off the tracks. Don’t get me wrong, all teams have a dip in form as some point in the season, but ours seems to have come at completely the wrong time. Three points in this game would do nicely thank you very much!

Anyway that’s enough pre-amble as there is already enough of that knocking about in the form of NUFC_stats impressive ‘Stat Attack’ and my very own match preview. Why not give them both a read if you haven’t already done so?

Team news is below and will be updated as and when it becomes available.

Howay the lads!

  1. Santon – dropped for poor recent performances
    Abeid – cover for Tiote

Even Donaldson got a place on the bench 😯

Where is Shane Ferguson? Is he injured?

Anyway, looks like an all out attack. Howay The Lads!

  2. todays the game in which we kick start our season again, we need a canny finish to the season, or it will be seen as a major dissapointment..
cant see us keeping a clean sheet, but the team up front looks more than capable of scoring, so am having a punt @ 3-1 to the toon 😉 😉

  3. Vukic is back. Could he be the driving, creative force we seem to lack in midfield? I haven’t seen him play very much, but it seemed like he’s an attacking box-to-box guy. Am I wrong?

  4. nervous as usual as these so-called easier games are no longer easier. i look at how **** wolves are with manure just banging five past them in second gear, then i looked at how we laboured against them. i hope we see a different newcastle today. toite out and guthrie in plus HBA starts.. two positives for me.. i will revise my 1-2 prediction to a 1-1.

  8. What happened to our ability to pass and play football? Watching us over the last month or so we have been dire in terms of the quality of football.

  9. Same pattern as usual.

Start well, score early. Then start playing **** and carelessly.

The opposition starts to get more possession, more confidence.

We need to get a second.

  10. When will commentators learn the rules of the game? Doesn’t matter how close he is there he’s hands are raised.

  11. Commentator says its never a penalty?

What’s his hand Doug that high. It actually moves towards the ball and its about as clear a handball as you get.
