Game On! Newcastle v Norwich – Santon and Tiote out

Cheering on the lads!
Welcome one and all to our ‘Game On’ article which this afternoon will take us through every twist and turn of Norwich City’s visit to St James’ Park.

Newcastle are looking for their first win in four which will go some way to avenging the 4-2 defeat suffered at Carrow Road earlier on in the season.

However it won’t be easy. Norwich work hard, they run at everything and will offer their own threat. They are all but safe in the Premier League and, like us, are at a kind of crossroads in terms of their season. A positive result and they can start looking at finishing in the top half of the table whilst a defeat will probably consign them to being happy enough with how things have gone thus far.

Newcastle meanwhile are looking for the points themselves in an attempt to get back on track and reignite a promising Premier League campaign which has started to fall off the tracks. Don’t get me wrong, all teams have a dip in form as some point in the season, but ours seems to have come at completely the wrong time. Three points in this game would do nicely thank you very much!

Anyway that’s enough pre-amble as there is already enough of that knocking about in the form of NUFC_stats impressive ‘Stat Attack’ and my very own match preview. Why not give them both a read if you haven’t already done so?

Team news is below and will be updated as and when it becomes available.

Howay the lads!

Newcastle: Tim Krul, Danny Simpson, Mike Williamson, Fabricio Coloccini, James Perch, Hatem Ben Arfa, Danny Guthrie, Yohan Cabaye, Jonas Gutierrez, Demba Ba, Papiss Cisse

Subs: Rob Elliot, Davide Santon, Mehdi Abeid, Dan Gosling, Haris Vuckic, Ryan Donaldson, Shola Ameobi

Norwich: Ruddy, Naughton, Ward, Whitbread, Drury, Elliott Bennett, Pilkington, Howson, Fox, Surman, Morison

Subs: Steer, Martin, Johnson, Crofts, Holt, Jackson, Hoolahan.

  1. right get in there and let Pards rip into them a bit, maybe he should take Willo off and put Santon or even Carver in his place because he is utter *****

  2. Gotta say if Pards thinks Cisse is not up to speed yet due to langauge barrier ,then we will have some player once he is 😎

  5. Overall a decent half. Got the goal and then took a while to get going again. Had a few opportunities then let them back in to it.

Not too sure about Jonas at left back right now- making me feel a little nervous.

  6. OK. I don’t know about you lot, but post the 35th minute, other than gorgeous through ball to Cisse, I shudder every time Jonas gets the ball. Seems to be giving it away far too easily. On an unrelated note, am loving the feeling of being back on here. Baby steps, but the hands are functional once more…woohoo…
    🙂

  7. Need to pass it quicker out of defence. Keep on crossing the ball in at any point and stop nowrich from doing these short passes. Think Cisse, Ba, Gutti and collo are playing really well so far.

  8. 5 LIVE NEWS- apparently it took medics 2hours to get Fabrice heart beating again 😯 Now that’s dedication to your job.

  10. Think Hatem’s going to get a rollicking from Pardew- that’s the 2nd time he’s not got rid in the box.

  12. Don’t say what anyone says.

Overtake is about the only player we have who links our midfield up with our attackers.

The is such a big gap between the front three and midfield.

We should be attacking in numbers and defending in numbers.

We just never have any fluency in our game.

Willo is **** and plays hoof ball to nobody. Such a weak link.

  13. @ Dave & Richie…
Something tells me Toonsy’s going to start banning people like they do on another blog that we know…

  14. I’m sorry, I know we are winning but I’m just sick and tired of seeing weak opposition play better football…

Still think this will finish 2-1 to us.

  15. Pardew needs to get them in for extra training on how to recognise your own players and cross a ball to them. We just constantly give the ball away so cheaply. So many treat that ball like it’s a grenade. Ah here’s the mackem slayer coming on

  16. Shola comin on , good idea impact sub , just tell him it’s the Mackems we are playin 😉
