Game On! Newcastle v Stoke

St James' Park.

St James' Park.
Game on against Stoke!
Welcome one and all to our ‘Game On’ article which this afternoon will oversee the visit of Stoke City to St James’ Park.

Three points is a must if Newcastle are to keep up any lingering hopes of stealing a place in the Champions League for next season, but three points would also help us on our way to guaranteeing European football for next season via the Europa League.

It’s not going to be easy and patience may be needed today as we set about breaking down a Stoke side who will look to nullify our own threat first and foremost before presenting any threat of their own. However they are always a danger at set pieces and one lapse in concentration at the back may be enough to have us chasing the game and looking for a way back into it.

Anyway, no more waffle is needed really. We know what is needed and, by listening to some of the players during the week, so do they. All we can do is wait and see how it pans out.

However, if you are a bit more information, maybe some stats or injury news then you could always have a look at our Stat Attack or Match Preview if you haven’t already done so. Both are worth a read but, as always, the Stat Attack brings an insight into the game that goes far deeper than many other sites out there.

That wraps it up really. Team news is featured below and will be updated as and when the full teamsheet becomes available. Also the game is not on TV here in the UK so if anybody just happens to stumble across a stream that looks useful the please feel free to share the link with your fellow NUFC fans.

Howay the lads!

  3. Anyone got a link? Mine has just gone dead, fantastic display from us so far/ The passing is flowing between everyone very nicely

  4. Seem to be playing out from the back rather than goal kick. Deliberate choice obviously and I personally prefer it. Just wonder if Krul isn’t 100% though?

  5. Cabaye must have been such a frustrated footballer at the start of this season – he seems to be lovely that advanced role and is bloody good at it.
Sunday rags will have someone buying Cisse and Cabaye for £100m in the summer 😆

Come on Ba son, find the net!!!!

  6. Hey–a question for you players and weekend warriors: When Cameron Jerome was getting ready to come on, he put something on his shirt–some kind of cream or ointment or something, maybe to help his breathing. Can anybody tell me what that was?

  7. So I’m guessing Cabaye might sneak man of the match 😉

If Cisse’s goal wasn’t disallowed it would have been four braces in four games… (Eight goals in four).

  8. i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again, from Cabaye started playing more forward he is fuking brilliant and looks happier too

  9. Ba-Cisse-HBA-Cabaye

It’s almost impossible for teams to control all four of them. We have so many game changing players.

  10. Big dave. Clears the way for a mazy guti run through the middle for the fourth, more licence to go forward now 😉

  12. Tiote’s passing has been a bit off today, tho it does look like he’s trying harder balls.

  14. N’er heard of that one Toonsy. Maybe not available in the states?

Tell you what, I really want to see Ba get one here and I really want to see Best come on for Cisse too. I’d like to see him get back in the mix because he combined so very well with Ba.

5 – Yohan Cabaye has either scored (one) or assisted (four) five goals in Newcastle’s last three league games. Streak.
