Colo decision expected today

Colo future still clouded in doubt
Colo future still clouded in doubt
Fabricio Coloccini’s could be sorted out one way or another today if you listen to reports in the press and the mutterings of his Father.

A meeting was believed to have been held yesterday with lawyers representing both parties present, but it would appear that the meeting ended with no resolution and further talks are scheduled for today.

Colo, apparently anyway, wants to return to Argentina to play for San Lorenzo, a team he supposedly supports and a club which his Father works currently. San Lorenzo also want to sign the player, but the issue is that Colo is under contract with us having signed a new deal last year, and San Lorenzo can’t afford to pay market value for him and basically want Newcastle to let him go for free.

All this has been muddied by rumours of personal problems which remain just that for now with, and rightly so, no confirmation on the rumours from either party. However, the words of Colo’s Father make me wonder what would happen if we just turned round and said no?

“There was an inconclusive meeting today,” Coloccini Snr told Rock and Closs on Monday. “Tomorrow (Tuesday) there will be a decision. We both desire the transfer.

“Fabricio is very anxious. He wants a decision to be made one way or another. I believe this is the moment to move. Newcastle have asked him to wait until May. The issue is if San Lorenzo will wait until that date.”

“It would be beautiful if both of us were at San Lorenzo, the club we love. Fabricio is eager to return but he wants to do so in an elegant way.”

The “he wants a decision made one way or another” part doesn’t exactly paint a picture of someone who is dead set on a move does it? Get him to stay until the summer and reassess the situation then! Also I dare say the part about Colo wanting to renege on his contract in an “elegant way” is lost a bit in translation. I’d guess amicable would have been a better word to use.

I don’t know what is going to happen with this one to be honest. I’m of the opinion that if he wants away then we must get a transfer fee for him as, whatever you think of the board, the manager, the club, right now, we aren’t a charity.

On the other hand, if his heart is set on San Lorenzo, as it is according to his Dad, then do we keep an unhappy player?

I guess we’ll see what happens soon enough.

  3. Afternoon folks. Reporting from sunny south west Scotland :-). This Colo sarga is doing my old bones in!! Why don’t we “LOAN” him to the argies for half a season or next season too, that way, we still hold his registration , or we let him leave for nowt, BUT. Demand 90% of any future transfer deals. That way , if he does leave the argies, we get something for him!! P.S. this mess were in is all mikes and Derek’s fault!! Back your manager or sack him!! Keep the faith, well be ok come may!!

  9. 😉

Yup, saw the photo, Mbiwa arriving. Definately him. Now we just have to disconnect the phones. Heap the runways with snow and distort his cell phone until we’ve got him to sign.

  10. So he’s finally arrived for the chat/medical. Someone nick his mobile and get Derren Brown in to hypnotise him into thinking he’s joining a top 4 club. 😉

  11. Kim.
    Is it snowing in Bristol?
I live right next to NUFC training ground and it is bleaching down. 😯

  12. I think Heidera is going to be coming in as competition for Santon. He has a lot of appearances behind him and the more I research him, the more I note the glowing references. Lets keep Simmo and Colo until the summer too. We will have a lot of competition for places and good back up’s for the next few months if these deals come off. Still need a good striker and winger mind…

  13. Inlive 2 hours aouth of Bristol. We had a fair bit if snow a few days ago, but it’s been raining all day today and the snowman I made for my boy is melting 😥

Just hope it does not freeze again, could get very icy with all this water.

      (Quote)

  14. Tony@98 ,No it’s pretty much all melted now but we are due more this pm apparently .Was awfull on friday ,chucked it down and couldn’t drive the car as at bottom of a very steep hill which turned to sheet ice overnight 👿 I know the North East is really getting it now ,feel for you ,I hate snow as it’s really awkard when you have someone in a wheelchair means I can’t even go to shops for food cause of the lad like.

  15. Two most important players to get in are Gouffran and Mbiwa. CF/forward & CB. These two are most important IMO, we can’t rely on Ameobi if Cisse is out and without a replacement for Collo. After that is a bonus but I think we need these two before the LB / midfielder. Just my opinion.

  16. Why Batty,

Don’t you believe we are signing Debuchy, Mbiwa, Sissoko, Haidara, Gouffran and van Wolfwinkel this week. 😉

    I can’t believe you don’t believe Ash won’t pay for all them…

      (Quote)

  17. JJ if we do get them all what’s the total cost in transfer fees alone? At a guess I’d say £18m.

In footballing terms that’s not loads, in Ashley terms that’s 20 pints of his own blood

      (Quote)

  18. @Scottwilsonecho: Hearing really promising things about Yanga-Mbiwa – might well be just the kind of powerful defender #NUFC need. Haidara deal also on track.

      (Quote)

  19. Nobby@109 ,I like Saylor but I think three things rule him out .Firstly he’s not able to stay fit an entire season ,secondly he’s not quite mature enough yet imo and thirdly he don’t speak French 😉 yet. Having said that, he bleeds black and white I agree but it just won’t work. Cabs would seem the natural choice at the moment .

  20. If they come in or not… At least this is what a transfer window should be like,

Cooing over who could come in not shitting ourselves over who could leave.

      (Quote)

  21. Kim I thought cabaye also but he can be petulant at times (such as Everton away when he pushed the ball boy).

If he can get rid of that tag then he could be a good choice!

Can you tell I’ve got the day off work??

  23. To be fair to Pardew, he goes about things professionally, and I like his comments of today.

“We’ve had a chance to reflect on Saturday a little bit, and I think there’s some valuable lessons we can take from the re-run we had yesterday. We created some fantastic moves, but Shola and Papiss got caught in too many offside scenarios, putting us under pressure, a little bit, if I’m honest. Those lads have been terrific for me all season and never let their heads drop. So when Papiss says to me that he couldn’t properly see the line to be able to judge across the width, I have to listen to that. When someone of his ability, who Mike paid millions of pounds to get to this football club, a major investment on Mike’s behalf, is saying that to you, you’ve got to listen if he’s telling you that.”

“Our groundsmen, Mick and Andy, done excellent to get the game on, and they’ve been terrific whilst I’ve been here, but I think we might learn something from that. I was shocked when I saw the blue lines half an hour before kick-off, if I’m an honest. I know why the lads done it, but little scenarios like that can cost you majorly in these sorts of situations, a little bit, with such tight margins. So I’ll be speaking to the ground team next week just to make sure that sort of scenario doesn’t happen again. Mike invests millions on this ground and the training facilities to give this club the very best chance, so little things like that might annoy you a little bit, if I’m honest. I said last week on the remy situation that the cold can put players off joining this football club. Of course, we can’t do anything about the cold up in Newcastle, and that will always be a major problem for any manager trying to build a successful team here, but we have to be professional in all other areas where we can make a difference. We have to focus on these types of situations, a little bit, to level up the playing field with the London clubs, who can tempt your new signings at the last minute. The line marking scenario is something that we can get right. So I’ll be speaking to Derek to see if we can get some brighter blue or even think about retaining a weather forecaster for these sorts of scenarios through the winter months so that we can continue to use white.

“We need to look at all these little things. Shola was in a good position second half and hit a high one when he was trying to find the top corner. The lads had a good laugh at that, especially the French lads, who had their own words for that. Hatem had the video controls and replayed that scenario again and again. That just shows what a terrific team spirit we have in the camp, if I’m honest. Johan had told Shola at half time that the goal is higher at the Leazes end and Shola has just overdone it, a little bit, with that effort. I knew the pitch had a slope but even I didn’t know it was quite so much, if I’m honest. We will have to adjust our thinking a little bit on that type of scenario and I’ll be increasing the discussion mode next week with John and Steve about the coaching situation on that.

“I am taken aback, if I’m honest, a little bit, that Shola has been at this club all these years coming up through the ranks and was unawares the pitch slopes down off of the Leazes towards the Gallowgate. That might explain a little bit, if I’m honest. The modern game with its TV demands means you don’t train on your pitch and so Shola hasn’t had that much opportunity to be fair. Sometimes, to gee the lads up, I’ve said at half time that we’re kicking down this half but Shola tells me he just thought I was using a bit of kidology, psychology, a little bit. I think we’ve learnt some important lessons yesterday, and that’s why we watch these videos, and that will help us, especially in our remaining home games. Little things like that can make all the difference at this level when you’re facing a relegation scenario and dealing in fine margins. All of us will have to readjust our thinking on that a little bit. Now every new player that comes to this football club will be taken onto the pitch and shown the scenario we have here because it might just be the thing that keeps us in this league. I think I’ll be proved right on that, a little bit, if I’m honest.”

  24. According to our information, Moussa Sissoko should sign a pre-contract Thursday with Newcastle. The midfielder Toulouse , which has been excluded from the professional group, will not make the trip to Paris on Wednesday in 16C-finals of the Coupe de France. It may engage permanently in England in six months, being free. According to his entourage “Moussa did everything for the TFC gets a transfer fee and let him go this winter. Newcastle were encouraged to make an offer. But the shocking attitude of the leaders of the club, who released Moussa group pushes us to sign the preliminary contract with Newcastle. ” In Toulouse, leaders address this situation with equanimity. Sissoko criticized the club for failing to clearly position on his future when he had asked her for a long time. President Olivier Sadran consider to leave his French international professional group in the next 6 months. As he said recently, it does not a matter of money, but a question of ethics and compliance. Except rebound, and a new range of Newcastle , the 23 year old should finish the season with Toulouse and join the Magpies in June.

  27. As we know France are struggling with their economy at the moment, why don’t we put a bid in for the country?

  28. Sounds good with these high-calibre signings, hope Sissoko deal isn’t pre-contract, would like him to come in to stop Perch from getting a place at CDM.

  29. I said at the time the Sissoko deal was likely to be genuine. It just came out of the blue and nothing was said ever since.

seems like we have indeed had the lad tapped up for months and he will now join in the summer. This will probably be the end of Tiote.

  31. Unfortunately after his displays this season we will be lucky to get 10mill for tiote (providing we stay up). Seems like we will be under a constant period of transition under this regime at best, relegation and its pitfalls at worst

      (Quote)

  32. If Sissoko means Tiote leaving I’m not fussed. I mean he’s been **** poor this season. While you’d like competition for places in the team you also have to cash in on an asset before he completely destroy his value.
