Game On! Newcastle v Chelsea

Newcastle take on Chelsea this afternoon in what promises to be a tough encounter for the Magpies.

Granted our midweek win over Aston Villa has given us some breathing room away from the basement of the Premier League but there is till work to do before we can forget about the dreaded “r” word.

Three points today would be a nice surprise and getting them over one of the top teams in the league would be a welcome boost. Personally I always have these types of games down as bonus matches, where any points are a bonus whether we be at home or away. Maybe I’m being harsh on our team and their ability to compete with the so-called “big boys” but let’s be honest, they are up near the top of the league for a reason, in much the same way we’re near the bottom for a reason.

The game itself is not being broadcast here in the UK as it’s a Saturday 3pm kick-off and they only get shown around the world and not in the UK. That is unless you can get hold of a stream to watch the match. Not that I condone that sort of behaviour of course but I can’t stop you from posting links to decent streams that you may find on your travels around the web. Hint hint…

The match preview in online and can be viewed here if you haven’t already done so. It featured injury news for both sides and also a brief history of the fixture along with some fun facts and statistics to go along with the match.

Team news will be published below in full as and when it becomes available. Personally I don’t expect to see too much changed from the side that beat Aston Villa but then I guess you never know. You’ll have to wait to find out.

Which neatly brings this article to a close and now it’s over to our team to do the talking for us. As always comments on the match as it progresses but please bear in mind younger also read us before you go off on a rant.

  1. here we go.. second half AP strikes again… and with villa winning we are back in the relegation *****… not that we were ever really out of it.

  2. Ball just isn’t falling for us. We’ve been great today. But the luck has been slightly with Chelsea. That’s the difference today so far.

I am getting worried that Pardew isn’t looking to make ANY changes with Chelsea so in charge now.

  3. We are back in it, but Pard’s needs to adjust his tactics. We need some energy in midfield. Perhaps Anita for Cabaye whose energy is fading.

  4. Saylor is playing way too deep.. not working with collo, just doing his own thing…. it may cost us..

  5. Thought Sissoko would be good but not this good, how did no one find him sooner. Carr really is the best scout in Europe.
