  1. Aussie – What we need is a manager with a plan. Not AP experimenting with Sissoko still. How can Pardew not know which position to play him already?

I look at people we haven’t been “in for”

    Lovren
    Redmond
    Aspas
    Giaccherini
    Altidore
    Gervinho
    Bony

Just a few that have either been for positions we need or who would fit with our team/policy.

  2. Aye, I’m sure JK could have put off his holiday until after the season starts as surely he will have nowt to do then…unless he’s expecting to be needed i.e take over if/when Pards gets the boot 😯
I expect nowt but hope for a lot during transfer windows, I’m invariably let down but I haven’t got the strength or inclination to spend a whole window being angry so I wait until the it closes before blowing my top…or not(in the unlikely event we do well in one).

      (Quote)

  3. BP, then the issue is more with the manager not our lack of transfer activity?

  4. Aussie – your point about Core players improving….It does often work both ways…..Every player says that seeing good players arrive motivate, excite and inspire you, and the opposite happened last year after we did so well and bought nobody in.

Just think we are a Joke of a Club if I’m being honest.

  5. Aussie – Yip. You’re right my friend. The manager would of been replaced in my opinion. Pardew has struggled to get the best out of his team, and when you don’t spend massive amounts on players, getting the best out of them is imperative.

Pardew lacks a belief that runs through the team no matter who plays, a style that makes players jobs easier. I take Liverpool as a case in point, a lot of their reserves won 4-0 yesterday because of this idea of how to play no matter who plays. They lose Suarez and come and batter us 6-0 at home. Arsenal’s reserves used to get to the final of the Cups almost every year. Wigan, winging the FA Cup beating Man City, they absolutely outplayed them and had some squad players in there as well.

But we have a manager trying Cisse and Sissoko as wingers! I find it hard to accept this to be honest.

That was my point Aussie, but you can absolutely argue it’s only part of the problem, but if AP ends up with Bent then I believe he has got his own way, therefore really making him the entire problem.

  6. Well i don’t think we are a joke mate, i think the build up of stress and disappointment is turning into hysteria.. i could almost put money on the fact that 90% of the people that think our club is a joke are our own fans..

      (Quote)

  7. BP, i agree about Pardz, his teams certainly reflect his mood and confidence. If he is searching for ideas his team seem to be the mirror of him…

      (Quote)

  8. Aussie – I don’t believe that, it is the an accumulation of decisions that only affect us as fans that make us feel aggravated by things happening at this Club.

Also BT Sport have billed us a joke for the Chelsea game at SJP next season. On the back page of the Newspapers yesterday there little synopsis for the game was the “unmissable….Joe vs Jose”

    Laughing stock….I think much!

If it was another club I would probably smile about it so I’m sure everyone else probably is the same with us….

      (Quote)

  9. BP, if someone is teasing you, just ignore them.. the papers are loving it as they give it to the Toon. Wankers the lot of them…

      (Quote)

  10. It’s so frustrating all of this that debating it turns me into an angry, irrational fan and internet keyboard warrior and its only 945 am think I need to calm down and make Breakfast…..

      (Quote)

  11. I suppose it’s neither here nor there what other fans think, or papers. But it just goes to show that when that’s happening when our games are being promoted, and Pardew’s being widely marked and backed to be the 1st manager sacked this season that it doesn’t appear to just be the (over)reaction of NUFC fans.

      (Quote)

  12. I think Pardew is a bigger problem than our lack of transfers. But we have been over that more than enough before now.. i don’t want him to fail so he gets the sack because that will mean we are playing badly.. 😕

  13. Don’t see why we should be forcing Cisse to wear the Wonga shirt.

The Muslim players in the SA cricket team don’t have to wear the Castle Lager emblem.

Cigarettes have been banned as sponsors. Why not alcohol and loan sharks.

It would bring the sponsorship numbers down. And salaries would nose dive, making the game what it was meant to be. A SPORT!

    Personally Premandup,

I’d play Cisse up front with Marv behind him at the moment, with Gouff and Ben Arfa on the wings.

Then Sissoko and Cabaye in midfield. (Tiote and Anita) to fight for a first team place.

Santon, Colo, Taylor, and Debuchy at the back and Krul as keeper.

We have Hadaira, Mbiwa, Willo (too weak) and Raylor as cover.

Up front we NEED a striker to compete with Cisse. Then we NEED a creative skillfull winger/midfielder to compete with Ben Arfa and Marveaux.

Finally we NEED a versatile defender who can fill in at centre back or right back. Thought we had one in Perch but he’s gone so…

Three quality players. Then our only problem playing wise is our **** manager.

  14. pardew is a ****-hole end of and to say if tiote had played well last season he would have been sold this year,or maybe hes dropping little gems in to let us know which way the club is going, the whole place needs clearing out,no way will jabba sell while hes filling his sky rocket for doing nowt 👿

  15. JJ maybe now we know why they are after two strikers, cissie is on his way, nowt shocks me with this crowd

  16. After his incredible stay of execution and time to mull over his part in last seasons catastrophe during his extended holidays was hoping to have heard a more up beat and contrite Pardew to instil confidence in the fans and the team. But not one bit of it, he sounds just as bad as last season, doesn’t know where to play some of his key players, still doesn’t have a defined style of play he can communicate to players to follow, is clearly fizzin that we have had the temerity to question him and his tactics last year. The sooner this man goes the sooner we have a chance of using the players we have effectively. Even Schteve bloody McClaren would do a better job than him.

      (Quote)

  17. another theory out there is that Cisse trained on his own due to having an alternative training schedule. Why is his training routine different to the rest of the squad? because he’s observing Ramadan. Apparently, something similar is happening at Inter

(this came from Saj Chowdhury of the BBC on twitter)

  18. JJ@91 totally agree mate.

    GDeb@94 ,here,here ,well said

M@95 .That’s interesting ,could be the Mirror is putting 2 and 2 together and making 5 then ,as if they’d do that like 😉 .Thanks for the twitter link.

Troy@60 , Lighten up fella ,it’s summer for goodness sake and people are busy and enjoying the sun. As for the posters like me wanting to reach the 1000 post ,it’s only cause we was so close and it’s just a bit of fun . Take a chill pill 😉 😎 put on your cape and go free running to burn off your anger.

  20. Prem – Thanks for the new article mate and you’re bang on that we desperately need to add goals to our team. I’m not discounting the players you’ve put forward because I agree that they are all realistic options but I do also thing there may be a shock option as well mate. Personally, I’d love to think that they are going to pull a rabbit out the hat but I’m afraid I 100% believe we putting all of our attentions on signing Bent and Remy. Pardew has openly mentioned those 2 players and IMO they are too transparent to have done this as a decoy. We wanted Remy in Jan so it makes sense to me that he’s a one we’ll go for again and Pardew is a big fan of Bent from his time at Charlton.

I could live with Bent and Remy to be fair, but I think we need a Scott Sinclair or Tom Ince up front as well for me.

  22. Personally I can’t see any reason why Cisse can’t wear a “non-Wonga” shirt to be honest. Unless of course Wonga spit there dummy out and insist on it. However, I get the feeling that Wonga, due to the seemingly sensitive nature of there business, would be in a position to back off and let Cisse play in a different shirt. It’s just a gut feeling that I have. I’d be curious to know what the real deal is, who are the real culprits ? Are Wonga putting pressure on the toon ? Are the Toon putting pressure on Cisse ? Is there nothing to it all, and are the “media” just plain and simply stirring the shoyt ? For Wonga, the whole debate is a win-win anyway. All the will-he won’t-he discussion is giving them unheralded attention. anyway… pronged sword. The toon media department REALLY need to get their **** together. Statements need to be made by club, letting things simmer in the media is just plainly and simply unprofessional. 👿

  23. Troy – To be fair I have found it frustrating not having access to the blog and genuinely missed the craic, and seeing what people’s thoughts were with the suggestion of swapping Saylor with Remy amongst other things.
But the reality is that people have busy lives and I’m sure Toonsy is no different. I’ll hold my hands up and say I’m too opinionated to write a decent blog, but the likes of Prem, Marktoon, KeithR and Mrs Aussie (sorry if I’ve missed anyone) do a cracking job of keeping things ticking over.

With respect mate, you haven’t actually addressed Prems article since he’s posted this one. 😉

  24. Regarding players shirts and sponsors and stuff. Mario Götze was officially unveiled last week as FC Bayerns great new signing from Dortmund. He was photographed holding an FC Bayer shirt showing his name on the back of the shirt…where of course a nice little logo from one of the worlds largest sporting, and FC Bayerns main sponsors also resided. Unfortunately Götze was wearing a tee shirt from one of the worlds other largest sports sponsors (in fact his own personal sponsor)…but no the same as FC Bayerns.

The upshot was there was a humongous cafuffle, and Götze was fined in fact I believe by FC Bayern…. 20k EUROS OR SOMEWHERe along those lines. Peanuts for the lad of course, but the principle involved is quite interesting. Is a player, as own property, FORCED to accept the sposnor of his mother club, although he has another sponsor as himself ? Could this be another Bosman-like scenario ? Maybe the upshot is every player playing in a toon strip with his own sponsor logo on the chest ? 😉

      (Quote)

  25. Troy, have to agree with Sharpy17 @104. I agree with your sentiments regarding the number of regular bloggers on here, and that we have a great bunch of lads and lasses putting forward great arguments and perspectives on all things toon. However, tOONSY; LIKE ALL OF US; HAS A BUSY life and should be left in peace. He’s doing a splendid job in my opinion.

I personally would really enjoy reading a ditty penned by yourself. Why don’t you also contribute to the well-being of the blog and get a few articles bashed out ?

  26. Troy, stop ya whinging mate, your only upset because Toonsy doesn’t like you on face book any more 😆 😆 loser 😛

  29. Back to footy craic.

Ice – Pardew has been back a week and already he has TWICE contradicted himself!.

“Personally I find PSG making their interest in Cabaye public very disrespectful” or words to that effect…. then in the same interview “yes Bent and Remy are on our list” ….. ***!.

Secondly – “we won’t sell anyone unless the offer blows the doors off” or words to that effect …. then he comes to with “if Tiote played better last season he’d have moved on this summer” …. The *** is back not making any sense again.
The season hasn’t even kicked off yet and I’m sick of his chat already.

  30. Sharpy ,both him and jabbering Joe love the sound of their own voices so when it comes to stuff and nonsense they got it pretty much sewn up. All we can do is sit and cringe everytime one of em gets put in front a mic. 😳

      (Quote)

  31. Sharpy17@111. Agree 10000000000%. This contradictory blather is one of the things that Pardew obviously DIDN’T learn from last season debacle. Here we go again 👿

If the blogs I read are typical of the feeling on the ground, i.e. on Tyneside, then there is a huge ground swell of negativity building against ALL things toon., especially Ashley, Pardew and Kinnear. I haven’t read so much negativity before the start of a new season ever in my years of following the toon. 😯 The toons PR group, and Ashley himself need to go more public and get to grips with things.

      (Quote)

  32. Kim – I preferred jabbering coz it sounded like you included Jabba Ashley in it 😛 😆
I could live with it if Pardew was a super coach but not close IMO. I could offset the off field madness if he produced on field brilliance.
The more I think ‘what the **** is he talking about man!’ the more I wonder whether we should be replacing him with an out of work Gus Poyet?!

Well done The Chronicle. The last statement is my favourite –

“While Newcastle fans highlighted the May 13 win over QPR that guaranteed the club its Premier League survival and Boro fans celebrated their win over the Black Cats in the Capital One Cup, Sunderland’s most re-tweeted message was about tickets going on sale for a 2014 concert at the Stadium of Light by boyband One Direction.”

    😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆

  34. MM – they need to shut the **** up and sign some bloody players is what they need to do mate!.
I’m of the opinion that MA, JFK and AP will never be liked mate, but signing good quality players has always inspired positivity amongst the Geordie faithful – and the players as well.

      (Quote)

  35. Sharpy @115 ,No it has to be Jibber cause when Joe sits in the stand it becomes Jibber Jabber 😉

MM@116 ,To be fair the Scum are only going in one direction anyway 😉 😳

  36. Yeah I agree that Pards has been doing a bit of **** talking this week, but I think we’ll get a lot more when JFK is back.
Although I have to admit that I get used to it and ignore most of it the sameway I do with Aussie 😆

  37. I have to be honest, I really can’t make my mind up about this ‘Wonga’ carry on.

I understand the religious beliefs of our Muslim players, and part of me thinks both Wonga and the club should jointly say that they have a choice to wear Wonga or not.
However, I am not a religious man but ethically I believe Wonga are parasites and I think our strip looks ugly with it slapped across the front.
So is someone’s religious beliefs more important than somes ethical beliefs?!

      (Quote)

  38. SHARPY going by what my son tells me as he works in a bank, cannot say which one as its a sackable offence (unreal) that most muslims dont take interest on there accounts, but there is the odd one that do so i guess its down to choice mate

      (Quote)

  39. Ice – this is the cause of my indecision mate. Cisse clearly doesn’t want to wear it for religious beliefs – yet Tiote has said he doesn’t have an issue with it. So some people’s religious values are greater than other and some people’s ethical values are greater than others – even on here. I know Kim was passionately against the Wonga sponsorship – I less so (despite thinking they are parasites).
The club can hardly say – those who want to wear Wonga can and those who don’t for religious reasons or otherwise – don’t have to. I can’t see Wonga going for that like. So based on that, I can kind of understand why the club are saying everyone wears it.

      (Quote)

  40. SHARPY there were players in the past that would not wear that type of shirt cannot bring them to mind at the moment, but the clubs allowed them to wear blank ones

      (Quote)

  41. I see JFK wants to sign Rolando … wait a moment, this is JFK – he must mean RONALDO!!!! 😯 😆

Ice – I’d love for us to sign Alderwiereld. I think the lad is mustard and £8m is a cracking price for him is we get rid of Willo for £2m, then you’re talking a net spend of £6m for what I see as Colos long term replacement – very fair I think.

      (Quote)

  42. Has it ever happened that a premiership club makes not 1 new signing in the summer transfer period ? i truly am starting to believe its gonna happen . Ashley wants to be the first owner not too make a new signing , imagine the headlines . 🙄 😕

      (Quote)

  43. SHARPY didnt we talk about this guy last season remember and i teased you about him, from what i know it was set up for him to sign this season and he would come but there has been a big change at SJP since so guess its bye the bye, plus i have a feeling that Carr is tipping the wink to Hoots when we pull out of things

      (Quote)

  44. Ice – on what grounds though mate. Religious is the obvious one but not all Muslim players have an issue with it. What if Colo said he ethically didnt like how companies like Wonga operate, or Cabaye said he just thought the Wonga badge looked **** on the strip and prefer to look of the top without it on?!.
Whether we like it or not, Wonga are paying to advertise on our kit and I can’t see how we can say to players wear it if you want.

      (Quote)

  45. SHARPY the net spend would be less than 6million quid ,the 8 million asking price is in Euros trouble is its being reported that Liverpool are making their move for him and Erikson from Ajax.

      (Quote)

  46. Ice – I remember you couldnt remember or spell him name 😉 😆

I’m reading alot about Gary Hooper being on the verge of signing for QPR from Celtic – Champions League for the Championship 😯
He knocked back Norwich and Hull – 2 premier league clubs for QPR – wonder if wages played a part in that decision 🙄
That said – I think if Hooper goes to QPR that will defo see Remy head to the toon.

      (Quote)

  47. JJ…If it’s true which I doubt(M’s logic seems more on the money for me) then yes he should be forced to wear it, or go and earn his money in a league that isn’t sponsored by a bank that also charges interest. If he is refusing to wear it then it’s **** all to do with religious grounds but because he wants a move…like I said though I think it’s all bollox personally 😉

      (Quote)

  48. Axel – I knew Lpool are after Erikson but don’t know they were after Alderwiereld – I know he has expressed his interest in playing for them though.
If Lpool get those 2 and one more forward I only see their full backs being the weak link.

Richie – I’d also have to agree with that view point. Surely his issues with Wonga would have been valid with Northern Rock or Virgin Money as well. He competes in the Barclays Premiership and turns out in the Carling Cup as well. Does he accept or decline the bottle of champagne for being MOM?! – doesn’t he have a non Muslim missus as well?.
I’m not simply saying he can’t really pick and choose which aspects of his religion he sticks to and which he chooses to conveniently overlook to look to get a move.

  49. Just listened to a podcast by a brit really in the know about Cloggy football, and he was shooting his coco going on about Bony. Her reckons he is absolutely top notch, and a snip at 12 million. The same bloke reckons the makkems signing Altidore is absolutely pish. Reckons he will score max 3 goals this season, even with 25 starts under his belt, and is willing to bet that the bloke will be on the bench by 1st of November.

That’s what we like to hear 😉 Just cos the makkems are hoying the cash around doesn’t mean they are improving the team… 😆 😆

Axel, the blog expert on all things Cloggy can probably put us straight on that one 😉

It’s also quite interesting that the legendary Douglas hasn’t been snapped up yet 🙄

  54. MM I agree with your earlier post mate I cant ever remember there being so much negativity about the Toon it seems as if more fans are coming to the conclusion that we dont really have much to look forward too, or get excited about 👿

  55. kimtoon i think kinnear would sign carlton cole and probably bring back bramble ? all the players no other club wants and ashley doesn’t have to break the bank

  56. Big D, sad to say mate, but that’s the way it looks 🙁
