Game On! Newcastle v Fulham

Game On at St James' Park!
Game On at St James’ Park!
Good afternoon all and welcome to our ‘Game On’ match article which will take us through every twist and turn of the Fulham game this afternoon.

It’s another home league game following on from the 0-0 draw against West Ham last weekend so we really should be looking to win this one.

It’s going to be tough though. We’re in a rut at the moment and Fulham are a good side who do well against us generally. In fact here’s a stat for you. Fulham have won more Premier League games against us than they have against any other current Premier League side. Not exactly good reading but it’s up to us to break that stat though and we have the tools to do so. It’s just a matter of realising how to best utilise those tools and get them to click.

The game itself will not be shown live here in the UK as it’s a Saturday, 3pm kick-off however there are lots of overseas TV channels which are broadcasting the game so the chance of watching it online are pretty decent. Same again, if you find a decent stream then please feel free to share it by leaving a link in the ‘comments’ section below.

Team news will be added in at the bottom of this article, in full, as soon as we can get it published. One note of late team news however is that Time Krul might miss the game after struggling with a groin problem but I guess we’ll soon find out.

And that’s that. Now we need to register our first league win of the season.

Howay the lads!

Newcastle: Tim Krul; Mathieu Debuchy, Fabricio Coloccini, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, Davide Santon; Hatem Ben Arfa, Vurnon Anita, Moussa Sissoko, Sylvain Marveaux; Shola Ameobi, Papiss Cisse

  1. aye, must admit Goofy on the wing has made a big difference. Remy too. Benny has been looking for that strike all game 😀

  2. COMONNN BENYYY YOU ARE A FUCKING GENIUS.
He almost gives 2 assist and score one this game, If cisse and Gouffran can score sometimes.

  3. Remember yesterday I said the team should always play with five attacking players.

Cisse, Gouffran, Ben Arfa, Remy and Sissoko have all pushed forward this half.

Play positive football and more that often enough, you will get positive results.

What a different side we’ve been since Shola went off.

  4. 3 – Hatem Ben Arfa has scored in all three of his Premier League appearances against Fulham. Plague.

    😆 😆 😆

Cisse has been playing up front for months and not been scoring!
Tell me when Ba did that? He had half a season. Which is when he was played on the wing.

  6. Ash,
They should score. And hopefully. When the side gets a bit more fluidity, confidence and more regular attempts at goal. Both Gouffran and Cisse will be far more effective in terms of goals scored.

Just give the Shola thing a rest mate.
No-one thinks he’s good so nobody expects anything from him.
People like HBA and Cisse are supposed to be great so they understandably are held to higher expectations.

  8. Solano,
15 games up front for Chelsea, two goals.

Also, Cisse’s record when he played up front for us the last few months has been 1 goal in three. That’s when he’s sorely out of form.

Please try get over the fact that Ba doesn’t play for us anymore. Rather try concentrate on the players we DO have.

By the way, I called a one goal win on Predictor league.

  9. YESSSSSSSSSSSSS
    Great last 20 mins
Best we’ve played in a fucking age
    Bloody hope Cabaye stays

  10. much, much better second half thank god. Benny may have just saved Pardew’s job. Lets see a lot more of this. 😀

  11. Get in, fully deserved win, all over them for the second half and krul made 1 save. Good stuff, we could have had 3.

I wonder how many of the boo boys will be crying tonight because we got a victory 😳 😳 😳 😳 😆 Tossers!

    HWTL.

  12. Solano,
I’d love to give the Shola thing a rest. But when I see the way he brings the side down to his level. It infuriates me.

    You’re just trash talking now.
Ba’s record playing up front for NEWCASTLE is better than Cisse’s.
You can’t dispute it mate – it’s not a stat of construed or twisted – it’s a fact.

  14. Wow. What a relief to see us playing properly for a change. Now – two players in, please JFK and Tuesday morning will look a shitload better than today started out.

Benny MOM, but decent showings from a few others. Cabs coming on made a big difference… but I’m not sure why…

  15. Chuffed with the result, well done lads, Good on ya Benny you kept trying, more of the same please

  16. Fulham are worse than us….. 😛 sorry we aren’t the worst team like some have indicated 😉

  17. When Pardew made the changes. Remy, Gouffran… Its the first time I’ve watched us in ages where our attacking balance was right.

We actually deserved the win. The last half and hour was joy to watch.

But it doesn’t help leaving it till then in every game. If Pardew stays, he NEEDS to be more positive more often.

We have some very good players.

  18. Happy with that effort. Again the substitutes provided some energy – so that’s a good game by Pardew. Deserved win. Remy looks good. I thought Santon was excellent today.

  19. Collo gave Cabaye an extra long hug at the end there… he is either gone on Monday or it was simply man love…

  20. The team that finished would should be our starting line up.
Defence and centre mid we’re sorted for cover.
1 winger and 1 striker in and i’ll be delighted.

      (Quote)

  21. Dare I say that Debuchy looked better today…mind it would have been hard for him to go the other way 😛

  22. Its amazing how after one win, people come out from the closet to tell us Pardew is a genius.

He has a long, long, LONG, way to go yet. I’m not won over by an impressive 30 minutes.

Hopefully with Remy fit, he’ll be a bit more positive. Then it’ll prove that he is right to say he needs to be backed more in the transfer market. With options up front, I wouldn’t need to ***** about Shola.

We need another attacking playmaker and a much better target man.
Lets see what they can manage.

      (Quote)

  23. Everton fans already disillusioned by Martinez.
But the grass looked so green on the other side 😯
Need to calm myself – only 1 win and 1 goal ❗

  24. Ice pup,

I thought, Remy and Gouffran made the difference. Finally gave the midfield more options up front. And their pace gave the likes of Cisse more space.

  25. Let’s hope 3players including a striker, a centre back, a playmaker.

Hopefully if curtis good plays well enough for cup matches, he might be our new source for cover in centre back position.

  26. I think JJ’s stance was short term pain long term gain.

We need to remember this was Fulham ( cacker than us ),lets see how we are against Villa next week. Up until Remy came on we were shooting blanks ,Cabs nearly cost us the game with his first foul and Goofy lacks composure in front of goal . Very pleased we won but lets not get carried away ,Pards hasn’t become a genius over night and left it very late to get us going forward more , a better team would of been a couple up on us by then. This is brilliant but merely papers over the cracks ,signings still required imo.

  27. Now perhaps if JFK can fulfill his end of the bargain we’ll be able to kick out.

Expecting **** all support for the side though, just like last summer 😕

      (Quote)

  28. JJ 😀

Anyone realised that we have not conceded any goals in the last 180 minutes? 😯

And Benny loves scoring against Fulham. 😎

      (Quote)

  29. Got the monkey off our back it will make a big difference I think… IF we use remy as the rest are awful

      (Quote)

  30. Very good comments Kimtoon @365. I was surprised how poor Fulham was. Berbatov did nothing and sulked. Bent got no service. It took everything we had to get a 1-0 win. Personally I didn’t see much from Cisse again. I can’t see trying to build an attack around him. I would rather focus on Remy. I hope he’s innocent of all charges. Gouffy needs to get a bit of luck around goal to get going. He does have some skill. I thought Anita was composed in midfield. Cabaye has quality but too many poor tackles. Carded already.

  31. JJ@364 Shearer just said that that is his concern as well that some “people” may think like that 😉
