Game On! Newcastle v Leeds

Game on at SJP!
Game on at SJP!
Newcastle take on Leeds at St James’ Park this evening with progression to the next round of the Capital One Cup on the agenda.

On paper Newcastle will be favourites to overturn Championship side Leeds United, but we were favourites on Saturday and have been numerous times against so-called “weaker” opposition in cup matches in recent years and quite often we’ve come out second best.

With Alan Pardew promising a strong side ahead of the game I’m hopeful that we can avoid such a scenario again but this is Newcastle United and you can never be sure if we’re going to turn up or not. Turning up would actually be a start and would give fans something to get behind and in my opinion we’re going to need more than one goal to win it in conventional time although I’m half expecting extra time and penalties to decide it.

The match preview is online and has been all day so if you haven’t already done so then please make your way to the previous article and have a look at a history of the fixture, some stats and facts and injury news for both sides.

Once again we’re not on the TV here in the UK but we are being broadcast overseas so chances of picking up a stream are high. Normal rules apply so if you happen to find a decent stream then please post a link to it in the ‘comments’ section below.

  1. Sorry, copy/pasted from last comment on last thread…

Cheers for the heads up Dave. Yeah I thought there’d still be an unearthed, X Filesesque computer den of football nerds somewhere. The truth is out there. 🙂

Ta for the links Mark, will checkem oot in a bit. 😎

…I’m gona start predicting cliches, buzzwords and catchphrases for Pardew’s post match interview. I reckon he’ll say ‘we was’ at least 3 times. I also think ‘make no mistake’ will play a part. If we win, then add …’we’re very serious about this cup, and still in it to win it’, if we lose …’we’ll work very hard on the training pitch to rectify the defensive issues we witnessed tonight’. Also, …’Shola has proved time and time again that he’s Premiership clarss, and he showed that tonight with a wonder goal in extra time.’ 😆 , or …’we was well under par tonight, unfortunately our squad lacks depth and we had to field fringe players.’

I’m actually starting to warm to comedy Pardew again now. 😆 I think he’s broken me.

…actually, Pardew said earlier that there’d be ‘no excuses’! 😆 😯
I’d guess there’ll be no post match interview if we lose then. Excuse is his middle name!

Anyway, we should win. Wounded animal, and Leeds are ****.

    TOON TOON!

  2. So much for being desparate to win a cup for our glorious supporters, your not telling me that is the strongest team we can put out. More lies and bollo*

  3. …oops, no wonder goal from Shola in ET then. Forgot he was crocked. Make that a wonder goal in extra time from the clarsy Obertan then. 😆

  4. Big Dave
Wish I was a kid again and football was about football and not prawn sarnies and ballance sheets. It’s a real shame that we are so infatuated with Newcastle. Still being In love with an “ideal” after nearly 60 years sounds stupid, but it’s a hell of a habit to try and break. However, nuf of the misery, 3-1 theneet. Howaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay the Lads.

  5. Dummet and Sammy look knackered already they have looked really good on that wing together pitty their end product has been poor so far but they have Cisse to aim for so not expecting anything. He has been shocking and so far looks to continue that trend. How he get paid to play football is beyond me.

  6. @MM they are looking class like you would wonder who the big stars are if you didnt know any of the players. Would like to see the pair of them get a game in the PL.

  7. Toon fans getting embarrassed by the Leeds support lol if the Leeds fans weren’t there you could hear a pin drop 😳

By the looks of it so far the team are gonna get embarrassed by Leeds as well

  8. Cisse for Haris (Sloth) Vuckic.

…our squad IS big enough man. Pardew said so. After Fatty told him to change his mind.

  9. Get in Cisse !!! 1-0 toon 🙂

I’ll tell you what, what a beautiful ball from young Sammi. If that had of been Mezut Özil the commentators would be shooting there cocoa with superlatives 👿 👿 👿

  10. **** sake I’m still on the last thread 🙄 😳 Bloody link keeps freezing , anyway well done Cisse ,what I saw of it 🙄

      (Quote)

  11. …is Sammeobi our answer to the left winger conundrum?
Quite refreshing to see a cross come in from the left anyway. Not been many of them since lazy-**** Robehhrrr.

  12. Fucking Al Jazeera. They have the toon game listed but when I tune in its fucking German match… Manu on 5 channels! No toon game
What’s the point of paying for footy when they don’t put the toon on. Especially when the match is listed on the channel

Now I have to. Watch a shitty stream

  13. Mark@58, I agree there mate. As usual the opposition seem to be targetting Debucy on the right. They haven’t gotten much change out of young Dummy on the left. Well done that lad 🙂 Two toon sprogs our best performers first half.

  14. Dubai-Toon, a shitty stream is better than a sea of vomit. 😉
It’ll have to do for now. Pardew will provide the latter in his post match interview.

  15. But I m still for Cisse to be in the bench. Really too weak in the game, unable to win a ball back of the goal with a defender putting pressure on him. His movements are so bad.
80% of the goals was made my Ameboi, perfect cross with pace in. Just put your head in opposition and the ball goes alone in the goal.

  16. Pretty poor first half like Sammy and Dummet have been class. Expect a much better showing in the second half. If not then i still expect to be winning 😛

  17. FSOTC, the ‘drakula’ in that link unnerves me, but I may check it out through curiosity.

…I think Dave and MM’s links are the same stream on different lags. Both work OK for me.

…gona check out the Count in 2nd arf anyway.

  18. HBA39, we still don’t have a natural finisher. A poacher.
Fk knows why we never got Darren Bent. But that’s another discussion.

  19. Dave ,exactly ,all the lad can do is score ,if he’d scored from yards out it would of been a chorus of,ah well he couldn’t do it again ,it was a fluke 🙄 He will never be good enough in some folks eyes.

  20. Cisse was the worst player in the first half but got the goal so people dont care how bad he has been we could be 2 or 3 up if not for his terrible shooting, passing, decision making 😆 :lol

    Anita having another good game

  21. Dummet is definitely ‘ready’ now like.
The loan spells seem to have worked well. Seems a confident lad. Look forward to seeing more from him.
