Game On! Crystal Palace v Newcastle

Game On at Selhurst Park
Game On at Selhurst Park
Newcastle travel to South London today to take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in what is our last match before Christmas.

After drawing last weekend against Southampton, and ideal present from the lads would be for us to get back to winning ways against the Eagles.

However it won’t be easy. A few weeks ago Crystal Palace were in danger of limping out of the Premier League with barely a whimper, but a new manager and new approach under Tony Pulis seems to have given them some renewed hope. Indeed a win today coupled with other results falling for them elsewhere could see them lifted out of the bottom three just in time for Christmas.

United are capable of winning this one but they will need to match the fight and effort a side put together by Tony Pulis will put into a match. If they can do that then eventually our quality should show through but we’ll just have to wait and see what happens I guess.

For more background information about the match including a history of the fixture, injury concerns for each side and some stats and facts then why not take a look at the match preview if you’ve not already done so? Just scroll down the page and look for the link.

The match will not be shown live here in the UK but it has been listed for broadcast by several overseas channels so picking up a stream should be a possibility. Normal rules apply though which means if you do find a stream then share it with others by leaving a link in the ‘comments’ section below.

Team news will be added in fully below as soon as I can get my hands on it. I’ll actually be able to watch the game today as I don’t start work until later which is a bonus for me. Hopefully the players can put on a show for me, and for all of us.

Howay the lads!

  1. Man, put on HBA against that left back and the kid may never play again.

  2. Problem with 2-0 HT leads is that we get comfortable while Palace will get a bollocking. They’ll then get a goal back and we’ll **** it

  3. Very good first half,
    Cabaye at his very best.
Remy and Gouffran are a little bit quite, we don’t see them a lot even if we have made some good crosses in the box.

  4. Chamack has such a perfect timing, he is in good form now. good overall player. And in the air he wins all the header.

  5. HBA and Cisse on at 65 minutes to keep pushing and try to restore confidence for those two?

  6. Hope Pards has a good half time talk lined up cause Pullis will be right into them and will likely address that right side where we been getting so much joy.

  7. Anita is my man of the match so far. Superb at spotting the pass and has a great range of passing styles.

I really hope we go for it in the 2nd half, these are there for the taking.

I’d put HBA on, he could rip this lot to pieces.

  8. The weather is terrible, you can really see the affect it has had on the game so many ***** long balls from both sides.

Need to break this habit of one good half one bad. Come out and take the game by the scruff of the neck. Its not over yet.

  9. We’ve been a little lucky with both goals but going in with the lead is probably fair.

Palace have hardly been in the game – maybe thats down to them not trying hard enough & our mdfield being a lot stronger than theirs.

We’ve played some decent football despite the weather but we’ve not really had much of a challenge from palace.

However a couple of times palace have won the ball from us & whoever lost the ball just stood there as though thiscwas a training match. There are signs that we could become complacent & if palace score then suddenly we would be on the backfoot.

I’d bring ben arfa on for somebody to give them a rest for thursday – maybe cabaye or gouffran.

  10. I agree that we still need another before I’ll feel comfortable so I certainly don’t want to see us sitting on the lead. Seems Pardew’s usual MO, though. I hope he goes for another one or two goals and gives Ben Arfa & Cisse some time to see if they can connect. With Remy gone a little cold, we really need another striker to get hot.

  11. Overall decent performance from us despite the wind & weather.

Surely there has got to be a way of stopping it from being so windy. Some kind of temporary windbreaker?

Premier league in this kind of weather is like taking an f1 car off road.

    Lets play indoors lol
