EASTER CHICKENS AND NO SIGN OF A RESURRECTION!

EASTER CHICKENS
EASTER CHICKENS

Five in a row t shirts are being sold over in the land of the great unwashed. Oh how they gloat, and who can deny them their 5th moment of glory, or the gift of yet another 6 points to ensure they stave off relegation for yet another season. Yes, 6 points that we could do with right now to stave off our own fears of getting dragged into the relegation mire. It’s inconceivable to me that we can lose yet again, not because we are brilliant, more because Sunderland are awful as their recent league form shows. Even allowing for our team being at the bare bones in players we should have put up a better fight than we did. Only Janmaat and Jonas can come out with their heads held high and the former played the entire game injured (tear in calf)! The fact he played and could possibly have worsened his condition is proof positive that this club is operating at a rank amateur level. Credit to the lad for risking his health on the day but it’s utter madness it really is.
If the likes of Sissoko and Krul are looking for a big move away in the summer they didn’t do their credentials much good yesterday, indeed in the case of Krul, congratulating Defoe in the tunnel all smiles to boot over his wonder goal, you’d have to question his team player skills. There is a time and place to high five an opposition player and it isn’t half time in the tunnel in view of the cameras. As for Sissoko, he was anonymous as were most of them to be fair.
For all Carvers rhetoric in the build up to the match, in the end everything from the team selection down to tactics and game plan (or lack of) was a damp squib. That Sunderland only got the one goal first half was the biggest shock for me. How you can have Defoe, Wickham and Fletcher up top and still only win from a wonder strike is quite shocking and says more about them than us. Like Newcastle, they may survive, just.
So around about the mid way mark I started to ask myself, what’s the point? We start out at the beginning of the season knowing full well we won’t win the league, won’t win a cup, won’t make Europe and will be lucky to make top ten. That’s assuming our owner hasn’t sold our best player/players by then and replaced with cheap and cheerful or worse not replaced at all. Well there is always the Derby, our own little cup final, except there isn’t even that anymore is there? When is the last time we sent out a team who were really up for it on the day? Forget the fact they change their manager for every Derby, they just seem to take it more seriously than our lot do. If they played with that passion every game they wouldn’t need 6 points a season from us to avoid the drop.
So if we can’t obtain Europe, cups or titles and now the Derby is seemingly off limits, what’s the point? Surely the point of any sport is to start the campaign with the aim of winning something, isn’t it?
We need an injection of enthusiasm from our owner, a renewed sense of pride and if he cannot bring himself to see the damage he has done not just to the club and it’s fan base but to a city too, then frankly he needs to go and the sooner the better for me. To be honest, the way I feel at this moment, this club feels like it’s going to hell in a hand cart.
The club has been likened to a Zombie club in recent days by pundits and rightly so. It’s the perfect analogy, but unlike the living dead the chances of this great club being resurrected to what it was to the fans is getting smaller by the day.

  1. Eric – I genuinely believe there will be a significant reduction in attendances next season through natural erosion of hope and people will be under pressure to spend money on other things, especially when they don’t enjoy it anymore.

I actually think Burnley was my last home game and my ticket was given to a mate and he has only gone to the Arsenal game. I told him to keep it as I don’t want to go. I just can’t be bothered and that is what will be Ashleys biggest problem; Apathy. Anger subsides but Apathy stays a lot longer.
My he sad thing is that everyone knows what will happen in the summer . They say they will invest in new players but they also think they invested last summer also but we ended up with a worse squad and first team that the previous season and the money spent was brought in by selling players.

    It’s a con!

  2. Spot on Ibizatoon @75. Why people aren’t angrier in general about what’s been happening at the club is beyond me. We’ve become a cartoon club for others to laugh at. The Sunderland games alone have sickened me. Gutless capitulation for 5 in a row now. Zombie club with zombie supporters in attendance at the home games. In fact I’m beginning to recognize some of the supporters from the Walking Dead series.

  3. Good to see people talking about ways of protesting. It has raised my spirits. I’ll raise my glass to you all tonight mates.

  4. Now, I believe other clubs have tried The Buffoon Plan. For example Blackburn and Blackpool are both on their own Buffoon Plans. You see how well they are working? So just give Ashley a chance with his Buffoon Plan and see where we end up.

  5. 😀 so the latest news from Carver is that he would walk away from the club if he thought that Jabba wouldn’t stick to the promise he has made him to seriously invest to strengthen the squad in the summer 😯 .
So why are they making promises to JC ?
And why would he believe them after all the other lies they have told 😆

  6. Dave, there’s also an interview doing the rounds from 2010 where he says “the guy at the top makes all the decisions and we are all suffering becsuse if it.”

    He’s changed his tune!

  7. GeordieTwo- Im sure that if we played on our strenght all season long, I mean with Colback and Abeid in a 3 man midfield and with a proper scorer, Sammy wouldve better stats. He has a positive season and can only get better. Dont think he’s part of the problem on the pitch.

      (Quote)

  8. With Gouffran and Sissoko in the same 3 man midfield, you cant expect more upfront even if I thought Cabella was most disappointing than Sammy, if you cant hold the ball in midfield and win that battle, then we got no hope. We wouldve lost even with Suarez Neymar and Messi

      (Quote)

  9. Big D: I thought I had seen improvements in Sammy. He seems to have the ability to go past a man and has pace. The problem is that he is so inconsistent and when you look at his goals and assists that probably tells the real story of his contribution to NUFC. I doubt if I can even blame Pards for asking him to be a second fullback on the wing in this case 🙂

I am a bit slow to criticize local players and usually give them the benefit of the doubt, so that’s my excuse with Sammy. I still wouldn’t get rid unless we have a replacement. He does at least as much as Jonas and Obertan and is younger and cheaper.

  10. This is what the one man most responsible for the abysmal tactics, subs and lack of effort on Sunday says:

“I’ve never, ever felt like this in my life,” he said. “It’s the lowest, darkest feeling I’ve ever had. Monday was one of the darkest days of my career. The fact it was five in a row makes it even harder to take. I’ll be hurting for a long time, well into the summer. I’ll be on my holidays but I’ll be thinking about it. I won’t be allowed not to think about it because when I arrive at airports I know people will be reminding me.”

Is he in some other parallel universe watching this John Carver but not being able to have any influence? He is interim (permanent, according to him) manager and he makes the decisions that affect the game. He talks like someone else is making these choices and he is just one of the lads, one of the fans. He is out of his depth.

The “walk away” quote is even better. Where would he go? Who, apart from us, would employ the ugly, useless lump in any capacity other than cone arranger or tea boy?

      (Quote)

  11. I’ve just been thinking about the Man City, Everton and Sunderland games. They match even the darkest days of Pardew except maybe the 0-6 to our next opponents. Carver was complicit in the Pardew catastrophes but may be even worse. He acts like he is being a hero in the face of overwhelming odds when he is a major part of the problem. Oh, poor depressed, down in the dumps, remorseful JC. It is not like you had anything to do with the awful football we have played for the last 4 years, is it?

Cue a disingenuous comment from the Troysta saying we should have expected this and been careful what we wished for as we drove the chancer Pardew out of the club. I didn’t wish for Carver though. That was the fat mans doing and the sooner he realises Carver was never up to it, as shown by his current and previous record, the better.

I don’t agree with the “Ashley Out” campaign as it is a total waste of time. He isn’t going anywhere. Better a CARVER OUT campaign as we at least have a chance of success with that and my dead granny would do a better job. In fact, I will start a campaign for Troysta’s Baba Ganoush (or whatever her name is) to get the job ahead of Carver.

  12. Why doesn’t the club come out and be totally honest with everyone about their plans, the reason why we don’t spend any money, why players are always sold, why the players bought are done so on the promise of NUFC being a stepping stone and why we don’t want to seem to have any competitiveness about us.

      (Quote)

  13. Lee Charnley has the easiest job at Newcastle. Does he actually do anything behind the scenes ? He only say’s what Ashley tells him to say. He lies for Ashley and covers his back. 30 million pounds in profits vanished in thin air and the accounts haven’t been released yet. The interest free loan still hasn’t gone down.

    Why wouldn’t fan’s want to boycott ?

      (Quote)

  14. Why haven’t the accounts been released ?
Where’s the extra costs going ?
Why have we got a paper thin squad ?

      (Quote)

  15. Stuart – you’re expecting them to come out and say we’re not interested in NUFC only SD sales? That’s what it boils down to mate. The club is nothing more than a marketing tool and it’s exactly what Ashley told John Hall when he bought it.

      (Quote)

  16. Good point where are the full accounts? well overdue now, I guess rejigging figures takes time 😉

      (Quote)

  17. Did anyone read the true faith article where it was shown that Charnley is on the board of the group who are busy selling the plot of land behind the Gallowgate End ? The bloke stands to make a fortune apparently…. Plus, despite the fact that he has been at the toon for yonks, “he isn’t one of us”. I wouldn’t be surprised if he isn’t really a toon fan…he’s just employed by the toon…

      (Quote)

  18. MM yeah I seen that, and for me he is just a part of the regime that has no ties or love for the club, and he doesn’t come across as a footie fan at all.

      (Quote)

  19. Big D, that’s the way I see Charnley too mate. No affiliation to the club, just his employer…

      (Quote)

  20. MM but then again to be fair to Lee Charmless I suppose he doesn’t really need to have any ties to the club, and he doesn’t really need to be a football fan as it isn’t really run as a football club anyway 👿

      (Quote)

  21. Big D & Stuart …. dead right, just because they employ you doesn’t mean you have to like the product….. we all need a job at the end of the day…

    Mickey Mouse club….

Moncur reckons the club will be spending money in the summer “to take the club forward”…. sounds like Moncur has also been on a marketing course, you know the one where you learn the soundbites made special by the “bullshit bingo” game…
The toon need to spend a lot of money in the summer “just to tread water”……to move the club forward will involve a HUGE investment that our lot have no intention of making…

      (Quote)

  22. MM @ 178 your spot on there mate they would need to spend plenty right now to strengthen the team and thats even before a few more purples leave in the summer.
But as you’ve said they have no intention, but that wont stop some fans from thinking that the regime is doing a good job

      (Quote)

  23. The fact that the club have privately briefed the local press with supposed positive stories about transfers, Carver has talked about transfers and Moncur now has come out and said the same shows he club is concerned about the effects a boycott would have.

If, and it’s a big if there were only 25-30,000 there against Spurs it would be one hell of a statement and would look outrageously poor for the league and the club. But more importantly it would show Jabba that we, the supporters hold ALL the power if we chose to use it.

      (Quote)

  24. Stu I agree but the sad thing is I dont think the numbers will be that low, meaning Jabba will know he can keep doing what he’s doing. 😕

      (Quote)

  25. Maybe not, Dave but if 10,000 stay away it will be a start.

By the way, I think a tonking against Liverpool on Monday night persuade a few more to boycott too.

      (Quote)

  26. Known Ashley, he will have card board cut out fans made to fill the empty seats, all wearing SD colours. 😯

      (Quote)

  27. troy@183, they have a couple of cardboard cut-outs on the pitch as well mate . i would put nowt past wor lot. did you read the article about someone buying the copyright on the rangers logo, so that they get royalties on merchandising sales ? oh woe is me…..

      (Quote)

  28. Kim if im not mistaken they are supposed to be released by the last day of march, so I dont know what is happening with them.
I did as Lee Ryder if he was going to press the club on why they arnt out yet but still ne reply back from him, but I think he might be afraid to upset the regime.

      (Quote)

  29. Stu yeah he is a bit up himself, I find Mark Douglas very approachable and will normally reply to you, I might send him a tweet but I know he was away for a couple of days.

      (Quote)

  30. Looks like Bournemouth will go up this season and I reckon Jabba will be looking at that and think that’s one team definitely going back down so we’ve only got to beat two more to stay up. Investment already been reduced on that basis.

      (Quote)

  31. But could we really compete with Bournmouth ❓
I’ll bet they are playing better ‘football’ than we are.
we stink on the pitch and have done for years

      (Quote)

  32. That point for Everton puts them out of our reach now, due to our guff goal difference. 🙁

      (Quote)

  33. Palace 2 up now, what is it with the unwashed the only game they play out their skin is against us 🙄

      (Quote)

  34. 3-0 up…so was it Pardew, or are our players just totally lacking in commitment and the mental edge required for the derby games?

      (Quote)

  35. Kim any team would wipe the floor with us at the moment. We are basically the worst team in the league.

      (Quote)

  36. Newkie, That’s an excellent point mate, Percy certainly getting revenge today like. He has a good bunch of players at his disposal to be fair.

      (Quote)

  37. Absolutely no surprise the Mackems are getting pumped again, Their entire mentality is to beat us and job done

When I predicted the points tallies the other day I had them going down and i stand by that completely, sad obsessed clowns

      (Quote)

  38. Kim – they were touted for relegated before he took over, and then when he initially took it even more thought they’d gone down. They have some ok players but he defo has them in a honeymoon period.

Fucking pathetic our lot couldn’t even score against them, again. I know they’ve seemed to score wonder goals in all the matches, but ffs. Thank christ we only play them twice a season, hopefully pardew is nailing their coffin shut so we won’t play them at all for a few years until we have some players with some stones.

      (Quote)

  39. West brom above us now, Villa only three points as it stands. Carver needs to win a match or two and then resign out of shame.

      (Quote)

  40. Goals flying in today in the PL Leicester just levelled v the Baggies 2.2 and Saints 2.0 up v Hull now

      (Quote)

  41. Newkie , wouldn’t mind Bolasie and Zaha in our squad mate, they aren’t afraid to get stuck in.

      (Quote)

  42. Scum fans have walked out again, wonder if our lot will if Pool ship a few past us on monday ❓

      (Quote)

  43. So Leicester bottom of the league yet still scrapping away and scoring 3 .2 up now. All the other teams putting our lot to shame

      (Quote)

  44. it’s looking very tight below us now.
I still think we will be ok, because of blunderland.
They should go down before us.

      (Quote)

  45. Saints have gone back above Liverfools and spuds now
Can’t say I’m looking forwards to getting humped on Monday night, but I reckon that’s what will happen now.
I’m sure Parver is dreaming up a plan to try and contain them and catch them on the b reak in the last 20 mins………zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

      (Quote)

  46. Daniel Levy will not be a happy bunny, pretty sure he wanted Spuds challenging for CL place this season, getting beat by a solitary goal by Villa at home is a poor show.

      (Quote)

  47. We should also boycott the WBA game as that could be a 6 pointer. Now that would be a statement to Jabba. His **** would be twitching at the thpught of relegation.

      (Quote)

  48. Kim

The others below would all swap for 35 points if they could, Still think that will end up being just about enough but it should be irrelevant with our fixtures after Liverpool
