An open letter to our players

John and liamTime for the players to man up and remember what real sacrifice is. An open letter to our players.
So today it’s confirmed John Carver remains your coach, like it or not that is your reality, as it is ours. Whether you like him or not, his love for our club cannot be denied but fans are questioning whether your commitment is as strong. Too many of you surrendered over the last few games and let the club you represent and the fans and city down. It matters not if you dislike your boss or his methods, quite simply you are paid well to perform for 90 plus minutes, it’s not much to ask. Doubtless many of you fancy a transfer to a ‘ bigger’ club some day in the future, maybe it’s even been promised? Well you best ask yourselves this. Have I shown I have what it takes?, do I possess team spirit?, am I a team player? have I given my all? If you can’t say yes to all of that, then take a long hard look in the mirror and think about two lads that really did have passion and gave their all for the club. All season we have been remembering Liam Sweeney and John Alder at the 17th minute of every game, these lads lived and died for the club. They chose to travel thousands of miles every season to follow the club and support players like you. This pre-season they paid the ultimate price when the plane they took to go watch you play was shot down on route. How dreadfully sad it will be if a season that started so incredibly traumatically ends in relegation for want of a bit of fight and endeavour. Put simply, if you cannot give your all and fight for the fifty odd thousand fans that turn up at St James Park then do it for Liam and John out of respect for all the support they gave to you.

Yours Kimtoon

  1. Kim very good and don’t worry I really can’t believe that anyone could take this in the wrong way,
If I was JC I would be reminding the players about these 2 lads and what the club means to Newcastle Fans, for the players it’s a job but for the Fans it is their life

  2. Thanks Dave, I know the players probably don’t take on board their images on the big screen or the applause in the 17th in the hustle of playing, but those lads should be ever present in the mind when they set out to play.

  3. I’m sure the regime realise they’ve made yet another complete **** up in the name of saving cash but to be honest that really doesn’t help us. Can only hope they learn but don’t hold your breath as it hasn’t happ need previously.

Reality is that we should be able to pick up a win out of the three games we have but Jesus Christ I can’t see how! It might need to be a point against WBA first and build from that but good God it’s going to be hard! I also believe Sunderland will get another 3 points at least. So we need to get at least 2 points.

  4. Stu I honestly think we’ll get atleast a win, don’t think it will be because we will play well maybe just that the other team will have a bit of a stinker, and we are due a bit of luck which all teams get now and again.

  5. Thanks Kim. That is an absolutely top notch letter and I got a lump in my throat reading it.
    Heartfelt and sincere.
Unlike everything else at this rotten club.
    Cheers Lass

  6. well at least we all know where we stand now.
I imagine the next thing will be a cry from the club to come and support the team against West Brom.
(No cheap tickets mind 😉 )

  7. Talk Moyes in toon t/morrow to take over in summer, one paper has gone with it some talk on twitter also

      (Quote)

  8. Ice I thought the talk was he was supposed to be going to the Hammers,
Although given the chance I would have him ahead of McClaren any day

      (Quote)

  9. KIM aye strange lass, there is a report on the W/Ham,there is another report on the Claret/Hugh site so let’s wait and see

      (Quote)

  10. No chance of Moyes coming. No way he would accept the restrictions that our clowns would want to put on him.

      (Quote)

  11. MAL he went a few years at Everton with little cash only selling to buy until the Rooney cash came along, maybe jabba has fed him some white he’s good at that

  12. Good post Kimtoon. And do it for your own self respect as professional footballers. Fight hard. If you lose, you lose, but do it the right way. Not tackling out of bounds and fighting with each other on the team bus.

  13. Steady as she goes then Lee? Beautiful. What happens if we lose the last 3 and go down? What then Lee? Will you have another dialogue with Johnny C.? Because he’ll be the only man daft enough to coach us after that. What does Mike say? Ah, yes Mike. A true leader. Leading us straight down.

  14. DAVE aye I thought he was W/Ham bound, maybe storey is wrong just putting out what’s knocking about.
mind Gold and company tend to think above their store imo

  15. Nobody would touch us with a ten foot pole the way we are right now. Ashley, Charnley and Carver deserve each other. They’ve turned is into a toxic cesspool. It’s worse than the last relegation season.

      (Quote)

  16. Ice, The Hammers also sounded out Klopp I read but got knocked back. Still it shows their level of ambition.

  17. G2 we fans save lives every day, there people out there that need to be shot and we haven’t shot them 😆

  18. We are disease ridden and it will take more than a few players coming in this season to fix this club. We’re dying a slow death.

      (Quote)

  19. Just done a predictor and I think we will need 38 points. One win, is that too much to ask for with two home games and a game against a team who will be relegated when we play them?

      (Quote)

  20. I can’t see us surviving this debacle, because 1 – we can’t keep clean sheets, and 2 – we can’t score goals… 2 draws are the most we can hope for, and I fear that won’t be enough..

      (Quote)

  21. So now Derby say SMc will stay as their coach next season. We can’t attract our number 1 target so going off past decisions the club will not have a plan B and we will be stuck with Carver.

I actually wish the club would hurry up and die as this death by a thousand cuts is excruciating

      (Quote)

  22. I agree with all the comments about supporters being let down by Ashley,Charnley, players who do not try etc. If we get relegated we will probably end up with Ashley as owner for however long it takes to get back to the Premier league. As a supporter of the club for 60 years I have seen more bad than good times but like Liam and John it is the club I will always support no matter what league they are in. I hope for the next 3 games we can put the anti Ashley stuff to one side and support the team to getting the 4 points we need for safety and then hope Ashley sells the club next season, which will then allow him to concentrate on converting another great club,Glasgow Rangers,in to a branch of Sports Direct.

      (Quote)

  23. Tadger if we do that we will be in the same situation this time next year and Ashley will know we will do the same again. He needs teaching that he isn’t welcome here and we will do whatever it takes to get him out. If it meant 5 years in the fizzy I’d take it

  29. Wondering if the goings on over the last couple of days will actually motivate the players to put a shift in on Saturday. I know it would certainly get me going if everyone was having a go and questioning my commitment.

One big performance and that’s us safe. Have a sneaky feeling we might win on Saturday. Professional pride and all that…

      (Quote)

  30. @Stu. hope so mate. I can see us improving but I reckon with a depleted squad its asking a lot….

a point v QPR or 3 v Hammers . we’ll have a full team to choose from too given Cisse’s fit.

      (Quote)

  31. STUART that’s my hope just hope they just don’t go silly or the top and end up getting sent off

      (Quote)

  32. With 3 games left they have no excuse to give up the fight, especially since one win will likely be enough.

      (Quote)

  33. You would expect Saints to beat Leicester and Everton to beat Scum on Saturday.

      (Quote)

  34. MM, yep, I’m a big Cisse fan but he pissed me right off reacting like that, it could really cost us.

      (Quote)

  35. Kim, I reckon Sunderland will get something from Everton on Saturday. Just hope Leicester are still in the mix when they go to Sunderland the week after. But basically a win on Saturday against a average WBA side with nothing to play for and we should be safe.

      (Quote)

  36. Wbrom have beaten palace 2-0 away and man u away in their last two games. With only Colo as a recognised defender I reckon we’ll lose. Hope I’m wrong like

      (Quote)

  37. Gashley – I’m banking on them being a little bit uninterested as they’re safe. There’s only one team that should lack effort with nothing to play for so that could be in our favour. Hoping the players have been shamed into some sort of effort.

      (Quote)

  38. West Brom are a well organised side and a manager who always has a motivated team.
They will play us off the park.

      (Quote)

  39. Still likely we will need some luck to get three points I admit that.

Need to play against ten men, who’s keeper gets injured after they’ve used all their subs and they have a goal disallowed in the last minute.

  40. Evening Troy Stavers aka Blackleys evil twin.

They also have four giants at the back who will have a field day with our inability to defend set plays.

Apologies for adding to the depression

  41. Wont be surprised if we end up with Steve Bruce, for Wba my team is this one:

    ————Krul————
    -Sterry-Satka-Colo-Dummett-
    ———–Colback————
    ——-Abeid—-Sissoko——
    ———–de Jong————
    –Cabella————-Ayoze—

Subs: Woodman, Kemen, Anita, Smith ,Sammy, Armstrong, Riviere

If Dummett isnt fit, Kemen can play LB and Ib really tempted to drop Sissoko for Sammy and switch Cabella in 3 man midfield with Abeid and Colback

  42. believe it or not i am kind of glad Carver is still in charge… the managerial roundabout was looking very similar to the year we went down.. The last ditch desperate attempt bring Shearer in failed and I fear that a last ditch attempt this season would have done the same. I am working on the thread bare theory that we have not followed the same path as before and this year will be different… 😯 I still do not hold much hope 😕

      (Quote)

  43. Hopefully by mistake they’ll appoint the right manager. I’m sure if they get theyre number 1 he’ll be useless. I have no faith in there knowledge of managers or them.

I’m not buying stories of DeBoer etc.. 80 applicants and we go for SM. What Garde, De Boer etc must be thinking after news of SM knocking us back gets to them.

Does Charnley even know who’s a decent manager? wasnt he just a pen pusher?

      (Quote)

  44. Aussie

You never look at history and logic. We’ve just lost 8 on the bounce. The manager has just accused one of his regular players of bottling the fight and purposely getting sent off, accused the team of not trying bar Colback, we have a **** squad and the fans are protesting.
The Mackems sack Poyer and get a win.
Carver has totally lost the dressing room and I don’t need to see the next game to know that that.
    Huge mistake not replacing him.
Mark my words or mock my words. 😉

It’s beyond belief that Ashley appointed Mort a lawyer, Lambias a casino owner and now Charnley a club secretary, all to run the club.

  46. I’m just sickened by some on here who screamed for years to have him sacked cos they believed Ashley would appoint a better manager.

I warned them repeatedly that Ashley would take the cheapest option available and there was a bigger risk a worse appointment would be made.

I got abuse and called a troll for years.

The irony of it all now. It makes me laugh at their sorrowful self pity cries now.

Unfortunately they’ve spoilt it for me as well, as it’s my club not just theirs.

  47. If we get well and truly stuffed on Saturday, which I expect, the decision to stick with Carver until the end of the season will look ridiculous.
