As reported by the Chronicle, Burton Albion vs Newcastle United, will be refereed by a Premier League official.
In recent weeks, most prominently away at Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United have had sub standard referees.
Many felt that this was just something that Rafa Benitez’s side would have to adapt to, now that they are playing in the Championship.
However, the man in the middle on Saturday, will be none other than Lee Probert. Probert took charge of the 2014 FA Cup final, but has not refereed a Premier League game since his return from injury, earlier this season.
In fact, this will be Probert’s first game above League One level, this season.
This appointment can only be a positive thing for Newcastle, who have suffered, this season, from a lack of experience from those officiating their games.
Probert will be eager to show that he deserves to be back in the Premier League and regardless of what anyone thinks about him, he will be a marked improvement on what we have had so far this season.
