As reported by the Chronicle, Rotherham manager Paul Warne has spoken highly of Newcastle United, ahead of his own side’s game at St James’ Park this weekend.
When asked about the task facing him, Warne said: “It seems an easy thing compared to the transfer window [going to Newcastle],”
“I went up to watch them against Birmingham and I won’t lie, they were very good.
“They only really had four of their first team playing in it and they absolutely annihilated Birmingham, we were almost laughing at the end.
“I had a team meeting with the players and I said: ‘I’m not going to lie to you, I never lie to you, this is how good they are. They are exceptional.’
“I’ve gone at it in a different way in recent weeks, but our away record I believe is 24 out of 24 and their home record is No 1 [actually No 2].
“So I’m well aware of what it is, but I’m not hiding behind anything. I’m just saying it is what it is.
“I’m saying this is what we need to do if we’re going to cause problems, this is how I want us to defend, this is how we’re going to score, and if you don’t buy into it 100 per cent then you have got no chance.
“We’ll be more positive with them over the next couple of days and show how good we are, but I want them to be under no illusions that it’s going to be some game.
“We’ll enjoy the challenge and see where it takes us.
“I said to the lads if they win they will go down as a legend XI.”
