Steve Bruce reveals summer transfer plans, drops striker hint & confirms Charnley meeting

Steve Bruce has spoken out about our summer transfer plans following last night’s drab 0-0 draw at Brighton, telling the media that we are on the hunt for “four or five” new signings.

One thing we are desperately lacking is a striker, with nobody showing they are capable of leading the line throughout the course of this season, and Bruce dropped a strong hint in his post match interview that a goal scorer will be high on the agenda.

Here’s what the NUFC boss had to say when asked about our summer transfer plans, which sees him all but accept that our £40m Brazilian is not a centre forward:

“I think we need four or five players to add to the squad of players we’ve got,”

“So, we’ll go to work on that.

“I’ve always said with Jo (Joelinton), I think he’s better playing to a side, that suits him, so it’s quite possible that a centre-forward could be on the list, yeah.”

It is unknown whether any of these “four or five” include loan trio Rose, Lazaro and Bentaleb, however Bruce did also confirm in a separate interview with BT Sport that he will be meeting Lee Charnley (the ‘CEO’) at the end of the week for transfer talks:

Every man and his dog who has been watching us this season will know that a striker has to be our summer priority, with our potency in front of goal being dreadful in 19/20.

That said, many are wondering how on earth we’ll approach the upcoming transfer window (which opens next Monday!) if we’re still no closer to knowing if we’ll be buying under new owners or stuck on a tight budget with Mike Ashley.

Who knows. A club in complete and utter limbo, but at least it looks like we’re attempting to make plans just incase the Premier League say ‘no’ to the Saudis…
