Ex-Mag Salomon Rondon may be the second top scorer in the Chinese Super League as things stand, but his goals haven’t been enough to save Rafa Benitez from yet another defeat at Dalian Yifang.
The Venezuelan scored his fifth goal in six games on Thursday night, but a 3-2 loss to Shenzhen followed – leaving the former Newcastle United duo sat on two points and bottom of the league after four defeats and two draws.
The former NUFC boss has only won seven of his 22 matches since being appointed at Dalian, with a run of two wins in their final eight games seeing them finish 9th out of 16 clubs in the CSL for 2019/20.
Needless to say, one of the first to react to Rafa’s struggles has been BeIN Sports’ Richard Keys, who mocked Benitez’s £12m a year earnings on Twitter:
So, things aren’t going to plan or the Spaniard following his devastating exit last year – even if he’s had plenty of help from our former Venezuelan star Salomon Rondon.
Let’s hope things pick up for Rafa soon, or he may be returning home to the Wirral sooner than expected and without a job!
